New Year's Day Polar Plunge, Jacksonville Beach, FL

By
Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Florida Network Realty BK 3030920

I have friends who have done this every year, and they love it. I, being from NJ originally, hold firmly to the theory that you should only go into the Atlantic Ocean between Memorial Day & Labor Day, and New Year's Day CLEARLY does not fall into that window.

I may consider it as a way to welcome 2013; let's face it, at least our water temps are still in the 60's down here, compared to the northern states!

I can't imagine much worse ... I'm a baby when it comes to cold temps and swimming.  No cold plunge here or even a cool morning dip!

Carol - My one and only swim at the Jersey shore was on July 4th and I almost froze to death! My southern blood just can't handle it!!

Connie: We used to vacation on Block Island, RI during August, and I remember the water was cold even then.

Peter: It is a big difference, that is for sure. And, since I grew up there, I still can't seem to get into the ocean much before Memorial Day! Funny how our minds are that imprinted.

Nope, no way nada not going to happen.  I don't like cold weather and there is no way you'll get me to do that unless there is a truck load of money involved.  Enjoy it I know I won't :)

Brr--Water needs to be almost 80 for me to stick a toe in.  Even up north we have those who like to brave the icy waters.  Not me, that is for sure.  Like you I remember cold water even in summer.

Hey Carol-I am with you on that! Saturday I was at the beach here and the water was way too cold. I found out later it was 72 degrees which is a lot warmer than the northern lakes I grew up in but still can't go in. I love that summer bathtub temp!
