Movie Mondays: My Top 10 Favorite Sci-Fi MoviesAvatar

On Friday night I finally had the chance to watch Avatar. I wasn't sure if I'd like it or not, so watching it for FREE on cable was a good investment.  My daughter-in-law told me it was good, but I was still unconvinced. Turns out that I thoroughly enjoyed it!  So much so, that it's at the top of My Top 10 Favorite Sci-Fi movies!

Or course the special effects were state of the art.  You can tell that from the previews.  The storyline was good, and the characters were believeable.  I could watch it again and again.  If you haven't seen it, put it on your movie list.  It's a little on the long side and it starts out a bit slow, but in the end it's all worth it!

Here's My Top 10 Favorite Sci-Fi Movies.

1. Avatar (2009)
2. Alien (1979)
3. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
4. The Abyss (1989)
5. The Terminator (1984)
6. Predator (1987)
7. Star Wars (1977)
8. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
9. Minority Report (2002)
10. I, Robot (2004)

Where's ET?  I've got to agree with you on Close Encounters, but I thought 2001 was really boring.  And, LOVED all of the Star Wars movies.  I haven't seen Avatar yet, Donna - I don't do movie theaters and have the attention span of a gnat, so I don't do movies much at all, LOL.

Hi Juli~ I thought about adding ET to the list.  Maybe I have 11 favorites!  LOL!  Avatar is worth watching if you can sit still.  While I've been recovering I've been watching a lot of movies, it's better than TV.

I just LOVED Avatar, Donna!  We got it on loan from a friend and we were skeptical... Turns out we liked it so much we bought it and have watched it many times since.  And as for Alien - remember the first time you saw it?  I remember how totally freaky the scene at dinner was (after the astronaut comes out of the coma)? Ewww!

Donna, The Matrix series has to figure in there somewhere for me.  The special effects still kick butt! Bill

Sorry Bill, didn't care for The Matrix.  I'll agree that the special effects were incredible, but not my kind of movie.

Oh yes, I agree w/ Juli, where is ET?  That's the best one.

When it comes to books I think Michael Crighton is tops!  (but I can't say I loved seeing those made into movies).

Fir me it was Predator hands down. I prefer the first one to the second one. I also like Predator vs. Alien. Get pictures to watch with...you guessed it, the older grandchildren.
