20 Comments on Temecula Valley Homeowners Facing Foreclosure -- Beware of Foreclosure Relief Scams
Morning Pamela some people when others are pulling their last straw out of the earth will try and take advantage of them, pity <sigh>
Pamela, very good points. Its easy to get taken in by these scammers when people are desperate.
Excellent advice, Pamela. Tought times brings all of the dirt-bags out of the woodwork. This is a great guideline for those in distress.
Pamela- Very good warnings. Our Florida State Attorney General is quick to squash as many of these scam operations as possible. They keep creeping up though.
Never Sign over the DEED to your property to another party without consulting your legal council first. THis is another scam that goes on. The company tells you they will make your mortgage payments for you and work the deal out with your lender. You sign over your deed to them and they keep all your money. They change the address of where to send communication from your bank so you never hear a word again from your lender and assume it all worked out. BEWARE of these people who promise you things like this.
Great post! We've seen so many similar stories in Florida. It is so heartbreaking to see so many taken advantage of when they're down & out! Our Attorney General has quite a few lawsuits pending against these crooks!
Pammy puts the whammy on all those game players out there...Temecula Real Estate transacting is safe and sound with agents like this on point...Good post Pamela and thank you...many will be helped because of it
James, and they do it with a smile, too.
Michael, yes, desperate for anything to hold on to.
Mike, thank you, and there plenty of those to go around, unfortunately.
Katerina, I heard some news the other day that our State Gov is going to change how the DRE is organized because, you know, California is penniless. If the changes go through (right now just talk) it will be more difficult for consumers to make complaints.
Thank you for pointing out about never sign over a deed to anyone who promises to pay the mortgage. Homeowners may think this is ok but it's not and causes too many problems later and they will lose their home to foreclosure.
Joseph, I hope they get all the crooks who do that to homeowners who just don't know.
Richie, you bet, I'm putting the whammy on these players. Thank you for your kind words! :)
Desperation can sometimes cloud our judgement. It's good we have people like you who can educate the public on what to look for to not be taken by these scumbags.
Rich, I agree with you on that, it's easy to be hasty and do something thinking it is for the best, but ends up it isn't. Thank you for saying that--I hope this helps, even if only one person from not being taken by these scumbags (one of my fav words).
Great post, Pamela! People that run these scams should be hung high for all to see... It seems like such obvious advice, btu it's so easy to be sucked in when your hope is played.
Thanks for sharing & working to help Temecula Valley Homeowners!
Bruce
Pamela ~ It is a sad day when the unscrupulous will play upon the fears of distressed homeowners. Your post is right on point. Thanks
Bruce, thank you! Absolutely we need to bring these out in the open!
Kristal, fear plays a big part in this, for sure. Thank you for stoppying by.
Great post Pamela. I can't believe there are people still trying to run these scams.
Good Evening Pamela:
Excellent Post. Let this be a warning to all Distressed Homeowners. Consult with an attorney before you decide to respod to any of these crooks.
Hi Pamela, great post exposing these scams that people have to be aware of. As if they don't have enough troubles already!
Yes Pamela, lots of scammers prating on those that are vulnerable and ready for promises that just won't happen.
It's terrible how these crooks take advantage of distressed homeowners. Thanks for sharing these great tips for avoiding more situations like this in the future.
Luis, there are ! I just talked to a homeowner today. I mostly listened because they can't hear what I'm trying to tell them. They'll have to find out for themselves.
C Lloyd, make sure it's a qualified attorney who knows their stuff.
Sandy, I know. I really hope homeowners will take a moment before jumping in on these.
Gabe, you said it perfectly--ready for promises that just won't happen. How sad.
Wayne, thank you. They are around everywhere.
Pamela
You should repost this at least once a week, updating it with all the new scams which are popping up. Every week in the C.A.R. NewLine, they have scam watch and at least once a month, I find a new one which is very cunning and if one was not an experienced professional, easy to dupe the public with. It seems no matter how many times you warn them, someone is getting duped. I guess it is all in the numbers.
Curtis, I'll be sure to check out the C.A.R. NewLine. Thanks for the tip. The CA DRE also has posted information for homeowners to prevent from being scammed. The biggest scam last year was the Mass Joinder lawsuit. Sounds very professional and convincing. I received emails on it and studied it. I decided it was a scam because after investigating it (wouldn't that be grand for California homeowners?) they required up front fees starting at $5000. The attorney and the office who master-minded this is in BIG trouble.
There's a new scam floating out there now which I am trying to get to the bottom of. To me, it sounds really hinkey, but to the homeowner who doesn't know, and really wants to hang on to their home, it's like a dream come true. What is it they say about scams? If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
Thanks for your comment!
