Is It Fate ???

Funny how things just happen. Today I received an e-mail from my step-mother who lives in Florida. We havn't spoken in a couple of weeks and she also works in real estate.  She and my father owned a real estate firm up here in Hampstead, NH and when he died in 1990, she stayed here for a few years and then re-located down to Florida.  After reading Craig Shiller's post this morning The Gift of Tears, I started to think of family who have passed on. My father, my two brothers and other family and friends we've lost over the years when I received this e-mail from my stepmother.

Jim and I were talking the other day about a particularly bleak article in the morning paper about the business downturn.  I mentioned the hot dog story and went into my computer to try to find it.  I was sure I had it but I couldn’t find it.  A little while later he was standing here at the counter talking with Terry when I just happened to check out your blog. The tears just started coming as there it was right in front of me.  It surely gave me an eerie feeling.  I don’t check your blog routinely and I don’t know why I chose that moment to do so.  Do you believe in messages from the grave?  Sometimes I do and this was one of those times!

Funny how things happen...through Active Rain she found "The Man Who Sold Hot Dogs" story when she really needed to find it...a message from above??? Maybe so, but what are the odds, that on this day she'd suddenly start reading my blog and finding the story that meant so much to my dad all those years ago...is he sending us a message. I'd like to think so. That Hot Dog story sends a powerful message.

Perhaps it is the time of year, that causes us to take notice of the the things we hold dearest and those we miss the most.

Jay, I think it is the time of year and we start thinking about those that have gone before us.  My dads been on my mind quite a bit too.  I sometimes think they send us messages...

Allison I never thought of it as being the time of year but it does make good sense. The Holidays sure do bring out the best and worst in some people. I also wonder if it's not that I'm getting older and a little more sentimental. Thanks Jay

Hi Chris yes, I think it is ironic and I think you're right they do send us timely random acts of messages that lead us to what we need. Thanks Jay

Jay... I really think there are no accidents.

I have found that more and more answers "come" to questoins we ask.

It might not be the answer we hoped for or come as fast as we like... but they come.

We just need to be open... and when we are open other things come too.

Craig very true I think some people expect things to happen immediately but good things happen to people who wait. Timing is everything in all aspects of life.

Jay, Your father was very insightful to have shared that story with you since it has so much meaning and will continue as the years pass by. And what a wonderful memory. All things happen for a reason...perhaps this was his way of reaching out to you through your step-mother. Hope it brought a smile to your face.

Jay, Thanks for the post. I at a loss and can only think of the words I shared with Scott "Everything is as it should be, add or subtract nothing", because there are no mistakes!

Gena  yes it did bring a smile to my face and indeed he was probably telling us something. I think about him often and I do miss his wisdom. When it came to real estate he was the king on how to close people. Always looking out for his clients needs before his.

William  I did see your comment over at Scott's and I guess all I can say is those are pretty powerful words.

Thanks Jay

Hi Jay, what a wonderful story, I am so glad you redirected to your Hot Dog Story blog so I could get the true meaning of the story. The best part is that you are still close to your step mom even though you are so far apart. Thanks so much for posting this story!!

Aloha from Florida Jay where I am spending some wonderful family time with my parents.  You never know when the last time will be when you see them and I treasure every minute that I am blessed to be with them.  I think it was a message from above in your case.

Aloha back in Hawaii now!  I was in New Port Richey which is north of Tampa.  We also travelled to the Everglades, Cocoa Beach and spent a week at Walt Disney World.  Had a great time but now happy to be home.  Hope you are having a great start to 2007!

Hi Dave and Tonya, glad you made it back home ok. Sometimes when we go away we feel we need a vacation just to rest up after the vacation. How was your jet lag? Awful long flight I'm sure. I'm sure your family was glad to see you.

Thanks for stopping by again.
