Urgent! Your Attention Is Required - Changes to The Chicago Condominium Refues Rebate Program

City Hall, Chicago, ILThe Chicago City Council has announced significant changes to the Condominium Refuse Rebate Program.  Among the most important is the change in the date for accepting applications.  The final day that 2011 refuse rebate applications will be accepted is January 31, 2012.

If your association or property management company does not file the proper paperwork with your Alderman's office by January 31, the city council will not recognize you, the condo owner, as a participant of the rebate program and you will no longer be eligible...period.  You will lose your eligibility to seek future rebates. There will be no extensions, and you will not be able to try again next year.

Since your Alderman's office must submit the paperwork on your behalf, it would be a good idea to get the application to their office before the January 31st deadline. There will be no grace period.  If you miss this date, you have lost your eligibility for any future rebates.  Contact your association or the property management company of your building and make sure they are on top of this.

Thanks John.  This came across our office email yesterday so I thought if our office was buzzing about it, I needed to write a post on it.

Thanks Mary.  Sometimes it seems as though cities are finding that a new way of raising funds is to make sudden changes, allow a short window of time to act and bingo,...new revenue in the way of either fines or missed opportunities for rebates or discounts.  The times we live in.

So true, Karen.  It is good that there are people like you and I spreading the word of what needs to be done.
