Recently we have decided to add more agents to our team.  We have asked all the agents that work for our Company if they speak any other languages and if they do, do they want to be a part of our team.  Now we will not split all our business with them, however, if they are interested we will add them to our website (their picture and a small blurb about them).  If we get a lead for a Spanish, french or whatever speaking customer, we will forward them on the the appropriate team member for a 25% referral.

I would love to hear any comments on this.

It's a good idea to have additional language, but I have to wonder how they are receiving the offer "only those who speak another language are invited to the team".

We also have a team. One biggest rule for adding members is that they would have to have the same level of service and ethical standards, secondary would be additional skills they would bring to the table.

Paula and Sandy thanks for your comments.  They will not be full team members, it will be more on a referral level.  Yes they can also be added for things other the speaking a different language, for example if one of the other agents is really good with foreclosures or short sales.

so a Croat comes to you for service and you refer them to another agent for language reasons... crazy as it may seem you are in violation of HUD's anti discrimination... they came to you not the other agent and you are passing them to someone else ....some days the world makes no sense.

Perrin, I agree it is crazy.  But if we don't speak the same language how can I service them?  I sold a house to a Spanish speaking couple and we had to call in an interrupter, it was very costly and we harder than if I Had just referred them to a Spanish speaking agent.
