I have had no less than 5 people contact me about buying or selling recently, and they have all been the result of a seperation or divorce.

I have a closing Friday, and the buyer is a divorced mother of 2 who is buying a home.

I have not seen any recent statistics, but this is highly unusual and many more than the norm.

Have you had any increases in activity because of divorces? Just curious...

I always have a fairly high number of divorcees, but I think it is because of the market I've been working in (First Time Homebuyers and Rentals).  

With the low interest rates again and lower prices, it is a great time to buy a first home!

I agree. I think that divorce is on the rise.  I have seen more latley than ever.

Al,

I don't know about now, but the divorce rate in 2005 (per 1,000 people) was 3.6 -- the lowest rate since 1970, and down from 4.2 in 2000 and from 4.7 in 1990. So it seems like there is a positive trend of NOT getting divorced.

Maybe its the pre-Christmas divorce rush.
