Veterans Family Fund Certificate of Deposit

A friend of mine forwarded me an email that she had worked with a talented group to bring a new product to market that they hope will raise $300 MILLION or more to help our verterans.  It's certificate of deposit, and half of the interest earned goes to support our vets.  It's called the Veteran's Family Fund. It's easy. Your participation does make a difference.

Here's more from my friend Betsy's email:

Dear friends,

Some news is so meaningful that it deserves to be shared as widely as possible.

I'm writing to tell you about an inspirational program launching today that I'm truly proud to be a part of. In just a few short months, a small team of people, including us at AHA!, have created a startlingly simple yet breakthrough way for everyone-regardless of political preference-to help veterans and their families.

The Veterans Family Fund Certificate of Deposit was created in response to stories about the unmet needs of veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The program gives everyone a way to make a tangible difference by helping veterans and their families cope with the overwhelming challenges that come with severe injury and death sustained in combat.

Here's the program in a nutshell: When someone buys a Veterans Family Fund CD, half of its earned interest is donated to help veterans and their families. The other half goes to the investor, who receives a tax deduction for the donation. One hundred percent of the donated funds will go to veterans and their families, who will be assisted by the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs. Our goal is to have $300 million in deposits within a year, generating $6 million to help Washington State veterans. And we hope other states will follow our initiative and establish programs to help their deserving veterans.

The Veterans Family Fund CD is needed because the demand for help is unprecedented.

In Iraq, 16 soldiers are injured for every one killed-a ratio more than five times higher than in Korea or Vietnam. Many injured soldiers are coming home with catastrophic injuries that will require lifelong care and prevent them from resuming normal lives. Often families are left struggling with the financial consequences of their loss.

We've been moved by the tremendous spirit of shared purpose behind this effort and hope you'll consider investing along with us, letting others know about Veterans Family Fund or finding other ways to help veterans and families in your community.
