Are Buyers Liars?

Are Buyers Liars like the saying goes?  I like to give all buyers in Fresno CA the benefit of the doubt.  I recently received a call on one of listings for information from a buyer.  The buyer introduced himself, said he was pre-qualified, wanted a home in the area, and asked if I could show him that day.  After a few questions back, once asking if he was working with an agent currently, he said no, that he was not.  I met him and his wife later that day.  They did not like the home as it was older.  I did tell them the house was built in the 60's on the phone.  They wanted a home near our local mall and asked about other homes in the area.  I again asked if they were working with an agent.  Again the answer was no.  I told them homes in this general area were built in the same era and you will not find newer homes however I set them up to receive listings from the MLS is other areas where the homes built were newer and had easy freeway access.

Two days later I receive a call from an agent in my office (we are one of the largest brokers in Fresno) and she had questions on my listing near the mall, the same one I showed these buyers above.  She said her buyers worked at the mall and they wanted something in the area but were interested in a newer home.  After a few fact finding questions with the agent, we determined it was the same buyers.  She started working with them a year ago and told to get pre-approved and then she could help them.  I showed them the home on Monday and she followed up with them on Wed. and they told her they were finally pre-approved.

I told her good luck with them.  I was taking them off my listing updates and asked her to explain to them the way Realtors work.  They can not have multiple Realtors working for them.  They need to choose one, make a comittment and proceed.

Stephanie,  Some people just don't understand the value of being real and honest.  It's not just buyers that can be liars. There are a lot of dishonest characters in this world.  Thankfully there are far more good, honest people to offset the others!
