Mirrors are a huge principle in Feng Shui and also in Home Staging.  So much so that I'm going to give you the "lowdown" from a Feng Shui Consultants use of Mirrors....and the effects of them.

Mirrors are used quite often in Feng Shui with INTENT. They can be a way to intentionally draw someone into a space---or make them feel "pushed away."  For example, we usually recommend placing a mirror if you have a small entranceway, to "grace" someone into the space.  We also look for walls to hang mirrors where they reflect the outside.  "Letting the Outside IN" is a Feng Shui Principle to create the Yin/Yang of a space.  But every space is different and before hanging ANY mirrors, have someone hold them and see how they make you FEEL first.

Mirrors also Intensify and Magnify anything they are reflecting.  If you hang a mirror and it's reflecting a blank wall, you will double the energy of nothing.  Always check to see the ENERGY of what that mirror faces.  Some lovely artwork opposite a mirror is a wonderful addition.....some people want to intensify LIGHT as well.

Feng Shui consultant New York

*Here's a little footnote before I forget:  With the exception of small mirrors used to institute a "cure" in Feng Shui, always make sure that a mirror is larger then your head and not broken up into pieces.  We need to see ourselves WHOLE and if the mirror is smaller then your head you are cutting off your AURA which is your energy field.

Feng Shui Oyster Bay Consultant

We don't advise mirrors in the bedrooms, something people have a difficult time with.  If you need a mirror in your bedroom to check your clothes, try placing it INSIDE the closet door.  This is probably where I've seen the most difficulties with mirrors and SO many people aren't sleeping well.  If a mirror is opposite you and you wake up to face yourself every morning, it can be an energy draw.  Let's face it; we're not looking our best when we wake up!  Something to defect the mirror might be a large, colorful vase placed in front.  Pretty statues (2-we think in PAIRS in the bedroom) or use your own imagination.  Remember, if you are missing an Element you can intensify it here.

A true case in point on the power of Mirrors.  While at a client's home I found the couple was not sleeping well at ALL.  Both were up many times during the night and their bed faced a wall that had an overhang.  It did not have any artwork or lights directed UP but standing at the foot of the bed, I could FEEL like I was being pushed out.  FEEL it but not SEE it.  I hate when this happens but I was stuck in that room, unable to give them an answer on what to do.  Minutes went by and they're looking at me expectantly----"COME ON already"  I could hear them thinking.  I went through question after question and finally it dawned on the homeowner---she had taken down a large mirror and not knowing where to put it, had stored it behind the headboard, making them feel "pushed" into the wall!  Ah, nice to know I wasn't crazy after all :)

Another issue with bedroom mirrors:  I have often seen closeted mirrors.  The scenario here is having a closet with mirrors, the bed in the middle and windows at the other side of the room.  The occupants can feel as if they're being "pushed" outside.  An easy solution if you don't want to take them down is hanging a sheer fabric over them.  You can add color and warmth and close them during the evening.  Remember too that your TV has not only electromagnetic energy but a reflective quality.  Don't sleep with the TV on and if it's facing you, it's best to cover it at night.

Feng Shui DrainsThis is a BIG Feng Shui concern:  Mirrors should never reflect a drain.  We think of drains as simply that, drain energy which can drain our finances, health and business.

We use mirrors as "cures" too.  Fighting with a neighbor?  We use a small 2" round mirror to gently deflect their energy back into their space.  We often place a small (3 to 5 inch) Bagua mirror over our front door facing out to deflect street energy, fast moving cars or T Junctions.  **A hint for buying mirrors:  Anytime you're purchasing something for Feng Shui and you look under those sites, the price goes up.  Small round mirrors can be found in craft stores for a dollar or two.  If you look for "Octagon" mirror instead of "Bagua" mirror they are often used to display jewelry and can be purchased very inexpensively.  I personally prefer the kind with NO WOOD around them but that is a matter of personal preference.

One more quick tip to be mindful of:  Convex and Concave mirrors are used only when necessary for certain very powerful remedies.  I personally have only used them a few times in over ten years so chances are you won't need it.

This was about as short as I could make this post and is only an overview of a complex subject in Feng Shui!  There is SO much more to mirrors and their own particular energy that they carry but keeping these points in mind when staging a home, selling a home or for your own personal use can make a very big difference.  Have you checked YOUR MIRRORS today?

Carole-I found this to be so interesting.  It's very true.  I have been in homes with mirrors that reflect the outside.  What a wonderful feeling that gives.  We used to have closet doors that were a solid mirror.  They were horrible.  I begged my husband to take them out.  The energy they put in our bedroom was not the greatest.  Now I know why.  My Grandma gave me a big beautiful mirror recently that my Grandpa made years ago.  I'm so excited to put it up.  Ironically it's sitting in our room for now until we find the perfect spot, but thanks to you I am inspired to place it in my front room with a refection from the eastern mountains.

Carole--No wonder everyone hates those sliding closet doors that are mirrors! This is interesting as I had recently shown a home that at the top of the stairs one wall was a mirror-tiled walls probably from the disco age of the 70's. The tiles were painted on or something that broke everything up and distorted the reflection. Even though the home was everything the family was looking for and they knew that they could remove the mirrored wall, they had a weird vibe from the home and bought something else.

Mirror images, you and I;
Reversal of fortunes,
Can you see the lie?
Harbinger of fate;
That shadow behind me.
The deeds I’ve done for all my life
Choices I’ve made,
some wrong, some right.
Intrinsic pain
Carved over my features;
Years of hiding from the truth.
Destiny’s blame,
Festering blisters of hate;
My soul you ate.
Faces in the mirror
Drifting ‘cross the glass.
Each one holds a memory
Better than the last.
Each a key component
Of the girl I long to be;
The girl whose face resides
In the mirror in front of me.
Can I face the burden
Of the deeds I’ve caused to be?
A silent, staring sentinel
That shadow seems to be.
If covering the glass
Should cause the pain to lift from me,
Does it expiate the traces
Of the true reality?
Can I walk away and know
I’ve been the best that I can be,
Or must I gaze into the mirror
And face eternity?

Carole, another great post for us and the consumer!  I have mirrors in almost every room of my house...in my garden room it sounds like I've done it correctly, but apparently my bedroom is a huge example of a don't :)  No wonder I blog all night instead of sleeping!

Thanks for the info about mirrors. I did not realize that mirrors in the bedroom were not a good idea. I have some re arranging to do.  Thanks, Ginger

Carole - I have some decorative mirrors in my foyer which are wrong as well, and they are smaller than my head.    Hmm.

Hi Carole,

Thanks for the information on mirrors, I was going to hang a grouping of 9 mirrors which are not big enough to show your whole face on a wall as you leave the room.

I use mirrors a lot Carole, in many ways, some of which you may not approve ;) in my bedroom ..but they work for me - none facing the bed.

Mirrors are a wonderful 'neutral' alternative to wall hanging when art is an issue. I love to be lavish with mirrors - they seem to hold such excitement for me! I've tried to figure what that is but beyond the reflective and light catching qualities especially in dingy areas ......I don't know - I just love them!

Thanks Carole, I always love your posts!  I sleep well with mirrored closet doors, but I don't face them when I wake up, my husband does!  No wonder he loves to sleep and doesn't think he gets enough.  Also my son has a hard time sleeping so I placed his bed so that he won't see himself when he wakes up.  I've also thought of covering the mirrored closet doors with a decorative drape.  A lot of homes in CA have mirrored closet doors, I guess, to make the rooms look bigger.

I've also removed a hanging mirror over our fireplace and my son noticed right away something didn't seem right.  So I put it back.

Carole- Reading your posts reminds me of how deep and wide Feng Shui affects us and our environments, the more I learn, the more I realize I don't know.  Now I understand a little better why I find placing mirrors to take just a little longer - I'd been doing it by 'feel' and what I saw behind me.

Hi Carole !  This is such a fascinating subject....I remember when I moved here, I felt that the blank wall that my bathroom vanity mirror was facing was very disturbing somehow. I immediately went and shopped for a pretty and gentle watercolour of tiny ladyslippers in a pretty frame and hung it directly facing the mirror. It seemed to solve the problem and the bad feeling I was having went away. Now I know why !

I'm not a big mirror fan....when I see mirrors as a focal point in a room, I feel unsettled and uncomfortable like the mirror is affecting the room negatively somehow. I would never have one in my bedroom.

Thank goodness you solved the couple's problem who had hung a mirror above their bed...I can't even imagine....

Thanks for the info Carole.  I had heard a while back that placing a mirror where a potential buyer can see their reflection, gives them a sense of already being a part of the house.  I try to adhere to some basic Feng Shui principals when staging, but I can't remember many so I stick to what I know.  But that is also one reason I never put TV's or even prop TV's in a house, and mine here at home is covered when not in use.  Now, I have no mirrors in my bedroom and am up several times each night.  Can you tell me why that might be? :-)

Julie, What a beautiful energy you will create.  In Feng Shui, Mountains "back you up" in life.  Perfect choice!

Teri, It's interesting, isn't it, that you can actually feel it?  Broken up and distorted images are very "bad" Feng Shui and we always try to avoid that.

Peggy, Thank you so much for stopping by and your positive comment.

Paige, That's a beautiful poem and thank you for posting it.  I wondered if you wrote it, it's just lovely.

Lisa, You need to restore at night for another long day :)  Mirrors have an effect everywhere but they do definitely disturb sleep.  You can cover them with a sheer fabric at night.

Ginger, I don't think many people were aware of it, either.  I find so many clients who aren't sleeping well and once we adjust or remove the mirrors they tell me that they are finally getting restful sleep.

Candy, Hmmm is right.  You are cutting out your Aura which is part of your energy field.  Any chance of getting a larger one?

Trace, Nine is a wonderful number.  If they will not be reflecting you as you pass and are reflecting the outside I think they would look lovely.  We want a person to see themselves as "whole."

Deborah, If you're happy with them and you're sleeping, I 'm sure you are doing something right.  As long as they make you feel good go with YOUR instincts.

Diane, We have many mirrored closet doors as well.  Some of my clients just put a simple sheer on top and then drape it to the side during the day; at night it adds color and actually looks lovely.

Jackie, Feng Shui is never ending, that's why I love it.  I see you are also going by instinct on what feels right to you and that's a wonderful way to hang anything!

Jo, I felt kind of stupid. I was just standing there, feeling it and not knowing what it was.  Finally she realized it was on the floor with the mirror facing out....pushing the couple out of bed and into the wall.  We had a good laugh over it and it's funny that she never forgot it!

Terry, Hi, it could be so many things it's difficult to tell.  Make sure under your bed is cleared out---energy needs to flow around you.  It could be an imbalance in the elements, or a lack of balance in the room or just the way your bed is placed.  Look at it objectively and see what you feel....it's likely you'll pick it up.

Dianne, Thank you for reading, I hope it comes in handy one day for you!

Carole, I thought you'd pick up on the reason I get up during the night.  Its an affliction "mature" women have :-)  But seriously, under the bed is clear as a bell, bed is properly Feng Shui positioned.  All is well, other than the "mature" woman syndrome!

Carole, this is another fascinating aspect of Feng Shui.  You are going to hook me yet - and I don't think it will be too long in coming.  Margo and I have often hung two big round mirrors (one on top of the other) in an entrance way (on a side wall) or at the end of a dark hallway.  The look is great - but now I'm not sure it is such good energy for the house.  You can see your upper body in the top mirror and your lower body in the bottom mirror.  Is this against Feng Shui principles?  Betty

I also now understand why my neighbor has a mirror above their door.  They have been fighting with a neighbor!  Very interesting.  Thank you.

Carole ~ What an interesting post, and very timely.....on Friday I'm staging a house where the master bedroom has a built-in vanity that's part of the bedroom area -- it leads into the shower area and there is nothing to separate it from the sleeping area.  There is a large mirror over the sink that faces the wall where I would be placing the bed.  Is this OK for staging, since it's not an occupied home? I'd love to hear any suggestions you may have.....thank you.  Here's a photo to show you the room ....

Carole, excellent post on mirrors. What do you think about all sizes and shapes of mirrors as you enter the house on a big wall going into the main house. It is on the foyer hall way. I have a friend that has this and it is just too busy for my taste.

I have only two mirrors in my house and I'm now wondering if I should add more? One is in the bathroom over the sink. I can't move either - suggestions... The other mirror is part of an antique bedroom set with the mirror attached to the dresser.

Your post is so interesting...thank you! I love mirrors. My best friend says it is because I am skinny and like to look at myself. But this is not true! (she is overweight and has NO mirrors in her house) The real reason is a love light. LOVE the outdoors being reflected in.

The most intersting 2 points are don't have a series of small mirrors and none in the bedroom. Over the years I have always toyed with putting up a grouping of mirrors, but it never felt right. I also have a mirror in my bedroom (not facing the bed), but have always wanted something different there....even though mirror faces the outdoor patio. Now I know why.

PS Both times we have moved the mortgage company into new offices, our owners have spent thousands of dollars to consult with a feng shui consultant. Each corner has a crystal ball hanging from the ceiling...why?

Carole ~ Great post!  I love to use mirrors in my own home, especially to reflect light - make it a little brighter in a particular rooms, open up the space.  But I have been in some homes where the mirror is placed where it is not reflecting anything you would want to reflect, almost as if it was hung there just to take up space.  I have also been in homes where I have felt uncomfortable in the room where a particular mirror is hung (a dining room where half the table sees themselves eating).

I didn't even think about TV tube reflections - great point.

Carole, great points on mirrors. I recently staged acondo and the kitchen had no backsplash, it was just plain white, I placed a black framed rectangular mirror, but you could see the sink reflected on mirror, so what I did i took a 1x1 piece of wood and eaised the right side of the mirror, now it reflects a million dollar views of Intracoastal, all that was accomplished by raising the right side, THANK YOU

Thank you for the feature whoever you are :)!!

Sal, Most people didn't I don't think.  Thank you for stopping in and commenting.

Cynthia, Isn't it amazing there is a whole topic on Mirrors?  The scope of Feng Shui is so BIG :)

Hey Terry, Trying to trip me up, huh?  :)  I thought for some reason you were looking for a Feng Shui reason :)  Silly me.....

Betty, I'm certainly trying!  From a Feng Shui perspective it "cuts" your body and you don't see yourself as "whole."  Which makes sense, actually.  We are supposed to see ourselves as complete.

Hi Janice, I am particularly careful with children and wouldn't have those mirrors in their bedrooms!  I know people like them but in most cases they are not good for sleeping.

Joan, If they reflect the outside leave them up! That is bringing the outdoors in and creating light and energy!  They may be perfectly placed Ms. Maven :)

Maureen, That's an interesting room you have there with angled ceilings and an indent area by the window...but to your question, yes, it can reflect the bed and I'd put some pretty artwork above it.  That's the energy you will be doubling.  For staging it's fine.  I would love to see the "after" shots!

Chris, Don't panic!  It's funny the things in our own homes we don't notice, isn't it?  We're busy looking at our client's homes :)

Missy, Thanks for your question.  No, it isn't "good" Feng Shui.  A mirror placed in an entryway should draw you in---in one piece.  This sounds as if it would cut up someone's image and we need to see ourselves as whole.

Maria, I loved our consultation and yes, you sure do have a lot of mirrors!  You also happen to have chosen a home that we both know had Feng Shui Principles used.  Maybe you could upload one of the pictures you sent me that showed what they did with the stairs?  That was absolutely unique and I'd love you to show it! BTW, you're going to do very well there as I told you.

Bill, Thank you but I learned all this :)  Isn't it funny that these principles make sense?  Thank you for your comment.

Josette, I'm glad you understood it as I am not always able to explain what I am trying to say!  And I hope it helps....thanks for your comment.

Dena, I find this often in bathrooms where you step in, close the door and the mirror over the sink reflects a blank wall.  If this is the case, put some pretty artwork there.  I don't know if the bedroom mirrors are directly facing you but it's important to note how you are sleeping?  If you're sleeping well, leave them.  Otherwise you can think of something pretty in "twos" to put in front of them to deflect the energy from you.

Janet, You are enhancing a Feng Shui principle of letting the outside IN.  That's ENERGY you're bringing into your space that is making you feel so well!  I don't know what school of Feng Shui the consultant used but it sounds as though they were honoring the directions.  We typically use crystals for different reasons such as to diffuse energy near a staircase, sometimes in a bedroom depending on the placement, in long hallways....It's a whole separate topic, believe it or not :)

Kim, I'm glad to hear it, I love people to look at things "differently."  Thanks for your comment.

Hi Kathy, I am careful when I discuss Mirrors with my clients and I go over topics (including this) so when I see it in their home they already understand it.  It's true that people don't think about their tv's---they have both electro-magnetic energy AND a reflective quality--both not good for sleeping.

Diana, I'm sorry, didn't mean to make you crazy over mirrors.  Just some things to think about :)

Ah, Diane, My home USED to be that way.  With the issues with the basement I haven't had much time to do what I wanted to do upstairs.  Someday it will be all back together again :)

Susan, You can drape sheers or put a tall vase with some lovely flowers (real or silk) in it.  It would stop the mirror from impacting you directly.  See if it makes a difference on how you sleep.

Laurie, I would so love to see your place from what you say about it.  You may have an uninvited visitor yet!

Fernando, You not only covered the drain you reflected the outside---PERFECT!

Sheron, Thank you, it's been a while and I am thrilled to have a feature.  There are definitely mirrors smaller then your head, I used to have one in a pretty little frame. It bit the dust when I learned this...:)

Lisa, I've seen those homes....I've also seen mirrors across from mirrors...the energy goes "bouncing" back and forth, it's a terrible feeling I get from that!

Elizabeth, Good, how nice to hear that!  Now you'll think about all the different things you can do.  Thank you for your comment.

Sally, I like that man!  It is intentionally used to "push" others energy away to make our space our own.  We don't typically use hanging ones, we use one over the front door but the INTENT is the same so I'd put it exactly where he told you.

Grace,  I love that unique artwork and am trying to see if it "creates" two people?  In Feng Shui in the bedroom we think in "Twos."  To emphasize our relationships (personal and business).  That's a typical recommedation but whatever this is it feels like JOY to me; I love it.

Carole:  I love this post!  I have a beautiful view of the lake from my bedroom and hung a large mirror on the opposite wall which reflected the view.  It was beautiful but it was in my bedroom.  Needless, to say after a while, it just wasn't working so the mirror has since been relocated and I have a grouping of similar paintings by the same artist on the wall and just love it.  The artwork has nature and creeks and beautiful old bridges, etc. which gives me that nature feel that I love so much.  Now, I have that wall inside my bedroom which is very soothing to look at, not only the artwork, but just grouping them all together made such a difference and I still have the lakeview outside my window.  I have enjoyed my bedroom so much more since I moved the mirror out.

Wendy, Thank you so much for stopping back.  Feng Shui principles do apply to selling, staging and just living in your own home.  They're useful to know to always have a home give off positive energy.

Brian, Those mirrors, while lovely, are only for very specific issues in a home or business that can't be addressed any other way.  We belive mirrors are powerful and particularly those, it's most likely what you were feeling.  Thank you for stopping in and commenting.

Maureen, That home is lovely but has a few Feng Shui issues if you're living in it.  Nothing that couldn't be addressed.  For showing it to prospective buyers you can work with that mirror very well, however.  The artwork here is key to that room and I was wondering about the size of the headboard as well.  I think colors in that space would be beautiful.  I was also wondering what you planned to use in the one corner by the window?  A small desk, chair or table or some pretty greenery?  I can't wait to see how this comes out and I loved that you shared it with us!

Donna, The Form school of Feng Shui suggests water in the front of your home (oftentimes why we suggest an outdoor water feature or a fountain at the front door) and a mountain at your back, to back you up in life.  You've got both areas well covered and it's probably why you enjoy your home so much!  Isn't it funny how we instinctively use Feng Shui principles and don't even realize it?  I love when I see some clients that have done something like that and didn't know why except that it "felt good."  :)

Gail, Some of those old posts were pretty bad--you can pretty much skip them!  I was new to the world of AR and I can't even go back and look at them :)!  But I will be posting other Feng Shui principles in the future.  Thank you for the kind compliment.

Elizabeth, I love that mirror, I'd be curious before removing it to see what it reflects? If it's the bed it's probably not a good idea but if it's the outside, it would still work beautifully.  Most importantly are how you feel with it and how you are sleeping so if you don't have any sleep issues and you like it, leave it.

This is the best explanation I've read about mirrors.  Thanks for posting it.  I am taking a look at all the mirrors in my life.

Also, thanks for commenting on Socrates' Advice on How to Handle Negative People

Carole.... Wow... I can see why this received a feature. CONGRATS.   This was awesome. You made so many key points about a mirror in the bedroom or in the bathroom that looks at the drain. Just so many little things that probably make a difference.

You made this statement, "If you hang a mirror and it's reflecting a blank wall, you will double the energy of nothing."

Never thought about it that way.... and I liked your idea of having a mirror opposite of a painting or picture.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one.... it didn't lose me.  ;o)

I've never thought about mirrors in this way - yet it makes wonderful sense.  I will be passing this off to the wife to hear her reactions!

Interesting points made regarding mirrors and feng shui.  I, like alot of folks I'm sure, find information such as this both helpful and informational.  Funny how we often don't stop a few moments to think things out....only to have them related to us later, making sense of it all.  Thanks for the information!

Thanks Carole for the positive affirmation - yes Jeff Loves Modern Art and we received this painting as a wedding gift from a special close family member of his... the photograph I took doesn't do it justice :)

Thanks for taking time for my question.

Sincerely,

Dan, It's funny that many people have commenting they were feeling something from mirrors--now they know why :)  Thank you for your comment.

Jeff, I'm so glad I didn't lose you.  I love the sense Feng Shui makes when you stop to think about it.  I wish you a wonderful day!

Matthew, You're going to have to let me know what your wife thinks :)  I hope she finds it interesting.  Thank you for your comment.

Joni, Thank you for your comment.  When people read some of the principles of Feng Shui they realize how much sense they do make.

Grace, Thank you for stopping back.  I loved the artwork, it has an absolutely joyful feeling to me and I can't think of anything nicer!   I thought it was a very special piece of work; I love all different art and often go to the museums in New York and the galleries in SoHo.  Thank you so much for sharing it.

Bob & Carolyn, Thank you for stopping in and commenting; I know you are familiar with Feng Shui so I'm sure you knew this information.

Carole ~ your timing was perfect for me...I was just doing some research on mirror placements, and, there you go!  Great post.  Loved your points and had already started rethinking my personal mirror locations, as well as paying more attention to them more while on my staging assignments.

As always, your knowledge and generousity with that are greatly appreciated!

Diane, Thank you for your response.  This is some of the "Feng Shui" tips on mirrors but it's one of the principles I am very careful of.

Melissa, It seems like many people didn't know about mirrors.  Who would have thought it's a whole subject?:)  Thanks for your comment, I hope the information helps.

Susan, How nice to hear that it helped you!  It does affect staging as well as just living in your home so I thought I would give the FS aspect of it.  Thank you for stopping in and commenting.

Carole, your specialization is very fascinating. I don't know too much about it. Is there any superstitution with Feng Shui and mirrors? Or hosehold objects in general. Perhaps that's a potential blog for you? The mystical 'rules' of Feng Shui.

Carole- Congrats on Two features in a row! wow, The active rain gods love you! Well deserved on both, too BTW. I would love to give a detailed comment but I am off the rain more than usual the last day or so, as you know with taking care of my daughter, well, I have a surprise to post about but don't tell anyone yet, I want to surprise everyone. So if I am slow to respond to comments, that is why.

Mirrors, well, we have been meaning to take down our totally walled on 2 walls mirrors. My consultant told me to just hang some curtains over them for now. I know they are not good for marriage either as they symbolize a double marriage in Feng Shui when they are over your bed. We are working on it, we are in the middle of remodeling the house but we have to do all the bathrooms first. Katerina

Hi Andrew, Thank you for stopping in and commenting.  These were some Feng Shui "Tips" on the placement of mirrors and the "whys" behind them.  There are so many principles and I post some as I go along.

Katerina, You certainly had some WONDERFUL news, I am amazed you got to comments at all.  What a perfect time of year and there truly is SO much to be grateful for!  Many blessings to you and your family!

Kim, I'm glad you found it and hope it helps.  I really do find that the principles of Feng Shui make sense and most people do when they learn them.  Thank you for your comment.

It all makes good sense.  I am not an expert at Feng Shui, but I understand the principles.  As a matter of fact, I find that I sometime incorporate Feng Shui in my interior design project without even knowing it.  For me, it's a feeling, good or bad, that can be altered or changed (for example) by simply moving a mirror.  Nice post!  Thanks for sharing.

Jill, Thank you for your comment.  I have found that many of the principles of good Interior Design are very alike with the principles of Feng Shui because they just make sense and make a home or business feel as well as look good.

Fiden and Julia, Thank you so much for your comment and for subscribing to my blogs. I'm glad  you enjoy them!

Terrylynn, I'm happy to hear you'll have the best placement for your mirror in your office space :)  Thanks so much for your coment.

Hi Carole,

I often see a tombstone mirror that greats you when you walk in a foreclosed property or reflecting a sink drain in a bathroom. Says to me Death too all who enter, death to your money. I have even seen a few small ones left behind by the past owners that could have easily been taken with then but are not. Kind of marking the death of their ownership.

Bonnie, Thank you for your comment.  I often recommend them to clients for street energy, t junctions or just to deflect ANY energy away from their property.  Glad to hear you use one.

Hi Ray, I am not sure what a "tombstone" mirror is.  We are careful in the use of mirrors however, for all the reasons I mentioned but the small ones, placed with intention can help deflect some negative energy away.  Thank you for stopping in and commenting.

Hello,

I had a quick question: I wanted to hang a mirror on an entry wall that is facing my door. Is this bad luck?

Thanks,

Heidi

Heidi, Thank you for your question.  In some cases a mirror will be hung at an entrance way to draw people into their space---at other times it can make them feel pushed out.  Before hanging the mirror, I suggest you have someone hold it up and come in and out a few times...see how it makes you FEEL.  That will be your best indication as every home is different.

Hi Tina,  If the mirrors are going to reflect eachother it's not a good Feng Shui Perspective.  Two opposing mirrors "bounce" off eachother and go into infinity.  Check to see exactly what it's reflecting and if that's the type of energy you want to magnify and intensify before hanging any mirror.

Oh my gosh, so many questions, so little room to type them!  So, the convex mirror should be used when?

What to do to mitigage the office where I have no choice but to have the desk straight across from the door?  I hung a mirror opposite the door?  Am I sending all my goodies away?  Oh drat! Do you do phone consultations and I can draw you a picture?  I think I need you.  Let me know if you plan a trip to California...I'm not really kidding.  It'd be fun to meet in person anyway.  GREAT post.

Sheron, I love when these old posts get pulled back up somehow, this was a personal favorite of mine.

Terrylynn, I do phone consultations all the time but need a LOT of information...but they do work, my clients are very happy.  If you can't see who's entering the door in Feng Shui you have an "unprotected back."  You should hang a mirror so that you can see who is entering.  Just make sure it's at a correct angle so you can see.  I'd love to meet you in person one day as well!

Lyria, It actually depends on how it makes you FEEL.  I always ask someone to hold a mirror before hanging it....I want to see what it reflects and most importanly if it makes you feel GOOD.

Carol my friend,  one of our local Realty offices is moving to a new location and had me in yesterday for a consultation.  I discussed mirrors and windows with them and had some doubters.  It was wonderful to email your article to them.  You are such a wonderful addition to AR.  Thank you for the wisdom you share.

Wendy, My goodness, you would have a LOT of reading to do :)  It's amazing how these old posts get new "life" when someone finds them and comments!

Cathy, I am SO glad it helped them to listen to you!  It is sometimes difficult to get  some people to see things from another perspective isn't it?  I'm sure you did a phenominal job for them.

Fred, Funny that people don't realize TV's reflect and should be covered at night if it's facing you.  How's real estate in Victoria, I'll bet you are doing a fabulous job even in this market your area is gorgeous!!
