It's A Razor Thin Line - Finding Your Holiday Balance In The Rain

tightrope

We struggle for balance year 'round, but as the holidays arrive, the balancing act becomes just a bit trickier. I look at it as a fabulous opportunity.

It's an opportunity to re-evaluate our priorities. Have we gotten off track? Are we spending too much time at the office, at the keyboard, chasing our tails at the sake of family and friends?

Let this be a time to pick up the phone and let the people that matter to you know how much you love them and what they mean to you. Hug your husband, your wife, your children, your friends. Practice random acts of kiindness. Help those less fortunate. Do the human race proud.

Jennifer - Thanks. Sorry I couldn't make it to the cafe last night.

Jo - I have a hunch you're pretty good at doing that without being reminded ;-)

Thanks for the reminder...I got a "slap in the face" of sorts when my aunt (dad's sister) emailed and didn't say one word about how I neglected writing...but on and on about she had surgery and stuff. Guilt. I am working on holiday postcards today! Thanks for your support for the contest and beautiful message!

Tom,

Love the post. I used to work in Manhattan years ago and the best time to be in the City was Christmas. It was like a different place. People smiled and said hello and it's not that New Yorkers are rude many of them just keep to themselves to avoid the weirdos and cons on the street. Christmas does bring out the best in all of us - I need to call my Mom and tell her I love her! Thanks Tom!

Tom ~  The holidays are my bestest time of the year.  Between Disneyland, my birthday, and Christmas, I never get a chance to grow up.  Thank you for reminding people of the truest priorities.  In fact, I even make certain that my shopping and wrapping are done by December 1st each year.  That way, I can celebrate with fun traditions for my children and husband.  It sure makes it more enjoyable and the memories sweeter!

Tom:  Thanks for reminding me.  Gosh, I hope I am not the only one that sometimes gets her prioties mixed up.  How odd that the graphic is lovi-lovi for me to submit my comment.  Must be telling me something.

Hi Tom,
Now you are stepping on my toes! LOL.   Keeping in touch with old friends and far away family members is a weak point for me.  You have inspired me to improve and there is no time like the present.  Thank you.

A great entry for the contest.

Tom:  So true and so easy to get caught up in day to day things and forget the very ones we need to remember.  This is a hectic time and your reminder is always a good nudge to take a minute and just breathe!  Then call those very important people in our lives.

Tom, thanks again for your support of the Holiday Balance contest.  Your funny video has inspired me to think of some random acts of kindness that I can perform.  Though I doubt I'll be hugging any soda machines in the near future or sharing my lettuce.  Too funny!  Have a great Thanksgiving!
