What Are These and Where Did They Come From?!? Not a Joking Matter

CAN YOU GUESS WHAT THESE ARE and WHERE THESE CAME FROM?

I bet you can't!

HINT:  Found in my Molly dog!

These are bladder stones that would find in my Molly dog's bladder.  There were SO many, the vet didn't even bother to take x-rays.  He could fell them.

They are caused because of the crappy food I was giving Miss Molly and the inability that the food had to process through her system.

Yup, ground up chicken floor found on the floor of the Chinese dog food company is just like giving Molly sawdust -- for years.  And this is what developed.

The coins used are to indicate the SIZE of the stones which developed.

After losing my beloved Poppy dog last year in Sept, I was mortified to think Miss Molly would be next.  I noticed her squatting everywhere to urinate, and thought it was her reaction to Poppy being gone.  Thank goodness I took her in to the vet . . . I had no idea.  And I'm sure this is what caused my beloved Poppy dog to succumb at the early age of 9.

I blame myself.  I should have bought the all natural food.  I'm so sorry!  Don't you be!!

Carla

If I didn't know any better, I'd swear you looked in my gall bladder after it was removed, and saw these gall stones. Pretty, aren't they

But since you said they aren't any kind of kidney/gall bladder stones...they could be dinosaur teeth with the sharp points cut off and the remains polished.

Or pieces of dumplings brushed with egg and baked.

:)

The Answers

WHAT ARE THEYUROLITHS aka Bladder Stones

WHERE FOUND:  In my dog Molly's bladder

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have to thank you so much for the answers.  I didn't want to give hints, but gall and kidney stones were SO close . . . although these were found in my dog and weren't technically gall or kidney stones.

Christine #10 was close guessing they came out of my dog's stomach.  And Patricia's #20 comment about them looking like they spent a lot of time in water . . . kinda ;-)

One of the main causes of BLADDERS STONES is because of the CRAPPY and CHEAP dog food that is on the market.  I fed my pets the cheap brands (Pedigree, Purina) as opposed to Hills Science Diet and Iams.  This is the result: BLADDER STONES!!  Dogs aren't supposed to have a high diet of WHEAT and GRAINS, which is the filler in most cheap dog foods.

Her symptoms -- which I didn't catch right away -- was that she squatted a lot when we were walking at the park.  The vet said that the stones are loose and create the urge feeling since they can irritate the urethra.  I thought Molly was just marking territory because she didn't like other dogs.  After our Poppy dog passed away last Sept, she was tinkling on my bed, and I thought it was a "behavioral" reaction.  NOPE.  But that's why I took her to the vet.  I was SO SURPRISED to hear about Bladder Stones and AMAZED to see how many, and how large they were.  She's about 65 lbs.  They are not as heavy as a rock/stones since they are composed differently . . . but STILL . . . it required surgery to remove them.

Molly's doing fine and will a full recovery and the remainder of her life will be happy.

Oh my.  I get shivers thinking of those bigs ones.  That goodness the vet found them.  I am sure Molly must be very happy.

Carla...thanks so much for sending me the link to the answer of what these stones were. OMG, I'm so glad you were right on top of things by taking her to the Vet... glad to hear she is recovering nicely.

Hi Jane . . . yeah, no wonder she was tinkling.  NO MORE CHEAP FOOD FOR HER!!  He didn't even need to take x-rays, he felt them.  I fell bad because I had no clue.  But she was not in pain, nor was she ever displaying pain . . .

Hey Peggy -- we can notice the differences in our pet's routines, that's what I noticed.  I never knew from Bladder Stones . . . OY VEY!!

Hi Michelle . . . your husband will be amazed too, I'm sure.  They were amazing.  They don't weigh much, quite light, which is a plus?!?!?  Until I can get to the pet store, she's eating chicken!!!  No more cheap food.  This is pretty common in dogs too, from what the vet told me.

Carla, Those were huge to come out of a dog!  Who'd have expected that?  I guess that's why Liz has all our cats on the Wellness brand stuff.  Much more expensive, and seems to keep all the critters healthy.  Thanks for the reminder link to come back :)  Bill

Wow Carla...that is amazing that those came out of your dog!  I feed my kitties science diet ever since one of my cats had urethra stones and that could end up killing them.  So sad what we give out animals to eat, isn't it.

Amazing Carla, Those are big stones and so many of them. So glad Molly is doing fine and great that you had a perceptive vet. Many times we do not find the answer until it is too late.

Last year I decided to switch from IAMS and buy something cheaper but several weeks I noticed that  their messes looked dark red. So I took a sample to have checked and the vet said it was just the red dye in the food. So I went back to IAMS for small pets and they have been fine ever since. I was glad it was nothing serious.

Your dogs are beautiful and it looks like they were having a good time in the photo as they had just chewed up something like a cushion or bed?

Hi Bill . . . note to self:  get small breeds (so I can afford the good stuff!)  ;-)

Hey Brenda -- it was so weird to have the vet hand them to me as what he pulled out.  And that got me thinking what I put in my body.  Better nutrition for 2012 and beyond for me!!

Hi Kristin . . . my Poppy dog (the German Shepard) passed away in Sept. '11.  I now wonder if his health wasn't gravely affected by the cheap crap.  I posted the "happy" picture for my memories so I can see how happy they were.  They were "naughty" that day and had fun with a pillow.  Molly is doing fine now.  Amazing about the red dye.

For a 65 lbs dog, those look huge and uncomfortable, wow I can imagine she is feeling SO much better. We feed Bella Natural Balance Organic, definitely not cheap, but will still check out the label.  LOVE the pic of Molly and Poppy, I remember when you had posted it earlier.

Wow...I thought maybe something the dog ate by  mistake but I thought the coins were part of it...not there for size!  Glad she is okay!

Your Poppy looked just like my sable German Shepherd -- but my baby is 100 lbs. She's a BIG dog. I will be sure to keep this in mind.

We have already stopped feeding our dogs the chicken and turkey jerky we bought at Costco because these foods are from China and they were found to cause problems in dogs.

Thanks for the alert!
