Celebration of Life for Bruce Bourgault - "HOT DOG DAY"

Below is Bruce's obituary that ran in the Honolulu Advertiser and the Star Bulletin yesterday, Sunday, Nov. 11th. A shorter version ran in the San Antonio Express News.

BRUCE ANTHONY BOURGAULT, 66, of Ewa Beach, died October 25, 2007. Born in Winchendon, Mass. He was a vice president for Central Pacific Bank Homeloans. Survived by his wife, Linda; children, Catherine Bourgault, Jeanne Bourgault and Robert Bourgault; brother, Jack; 5 grandchildren. Memorial Mass 10:00 a.m., Friday (Nov. 16), Immaculate Conception Church, 91-1298 Renton Rd., Ewa. Contributions in his memory may be made to Armed Forces Children’s Education Fund, Inc. (AFCEF, INC), P.O. Box 44524, Washington, DC 20026. Military Honors 2:00 p.m. Friday (Nov. 16) at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Borthwick Mortuary.

I hope everyone will take a moment to remember our military members who bravely serve to protect our nation.

Our family thanks all of you again for your concern and support during this challenging time.

P.S. We will scatter Bruce's ashes over the ocean at Waikiki on Saturday (Nov 17th) at sunset (6:00 p.m. Hawaii time), we will toast him with martinies (or beverage of choice) and hot dogs. Bruce's official "HOT DOG DAY" will occur at that time. We hope you will join us in celebrating his life!

I appreciate the update and please be sure to give him a toast for me as well.

I'll be enjoying my Hot Dogs!! I've been craving a good West Virginia hot dog anyway, I'll make myself wait until Friday.

Kind of nice to think that with the time difference, there will be people toasting to Bruce nearly all day long.

He is missed.

Linda, thank you for sharing this. My family will have hot dogs for dinner on Saturday night in celebration of Bruce's life and in appreciation for the brief time that he touched my life.

Linda, Thank you for the update, it's nice to see Bruce's face pop up with a new blog. I'll be eating my hot dog on the 17th and toasting back with a beer (I'm not a martini gal) I know he will understand. Aloha..

Saturday I will lift a dog and a brew in Bruce's honor. He will not be forgotten.

It will be the first hot dog that I will enjoy WITHOUT ketchup- thank you so much, and know that thoughts are with you, and with Bruce.

Mrs. Bourgault and Family thank you so much for sharing those precious details. As a member of the ActiveRain community I will miss Mr. Bourgault. I was touched by his down-to-earth spirit and his great sense of humor.

I will remember him the next time I eat a Hotdog.

May God continue to hold you in the palm of his hands during this difficult time.

Everyone: Your responses to this posting and previous ones have been overwhelming. I've been sharing them with family and friends...they are all amazed by AR members and your continued support and prayers. Mere words are not enough to tell you how much you have sustained me and our family. Thank you all for being so steadfast and true during this challenging time. Dearest Linda,

I am so sorry I am so late in sending my love to you and your family. I have been out of pocket for a while myself.

I just wanted to let you know that Bruce was such an inspiration to me and when I was having my hard times. He was so up lifiting to me.

He will certainly be missed here on Active Rain and everywhere he touched someones life.

Hot dogs rule and so DOES Bruce.

I wanted to thank Bruce for his military service and sacrifice to our great nation. I had no idea he passed away last fall. My deepest sympathies to the entire family. Bruce was obviously a great man!

Kirk, Bruce was a great man. As you can see he was respected and loved here on Active Rain as well as in his personal and business life. We miss him.

Hot Dogs for dinner last night -- in Bruce's honor. Sure do miss you.

He will be missed. We will definitely keep his family and the armed forces in our prayers.

I was thinking about last night too... He was one of my first associates here on AR and always had such kind and encouraging words to say. I looked forward each day to coming back to see what he had said next. He is probably one of the main reasons I even stuck around here when I first got started.

I still miss Bruce. He had a great sense of humor but I don't think he'd wear Ugg boots even if they shipped in 6-9 days.

Bruce certainly had a great sense of humor and would have appreciated you humor as well. However, he wouldn't have been amused by the spam except in a musibi—LOL!
