The Broadway Malls

From 60th Street to 168th Street, lies a history filled median of greenery and flowers called The Broadway Malls. The Malls were established in 1904 and have been a New York City park since 1904.

Eighteen whimsical and captivating sculptures have been placed for public view on the Broadway Malls from Columbus Circle to 168th Street.

The Malls are a 5.5 mile-long park that provides a welcome green space from the Upper West Side through Harlem to Washington Heights.

Art on the Malls is the Broadway Mall Association’s program to enliven the Broadway Malls with contemporary art. Peter Woytuk’s sculptures have become a part of New York’s brilliant city landscape.

Having lived on Broadway for the past 20 years, I've often admired the Malls and love how wide Broadway is with thousands of merchants and residents facing Broadway these 10.5 acres of parkland serve as our front yard.

The Broadway Mall Association works to beautify and maintain the malls. Broadway Mall Association serves millions of New Yorkers who live and work in the Upper West Side, Morningside Heights, West Harlem and Washington Heights.

Hi Hannah, The Ostrich sculptures are right out my front door. One morning they just appeared there.

Hi David, The mall is a park. The city takes care of watering and maintaining the plants. The Broadway Mall Association is a non profit that pays for the Christmas lights and art exhibits.  My building along with a few other buildings sponsors the malls between 86th and 87th Streets.

I love malls along the median.  We have one in White Plains that is actually a park. Its terrific!  Love the photos.
