Mid-Century Highlites from my trip to Seattle

Had two great nostalgic fine dining experiences this past weekend while in Bellevue, outside of Seattle, WA.  The first was The Pancake Corral

Although the architecture was not all that unique, it was definately representative of 50's western iconic design-  looks relatively untouched over the years, complete with wagon wheel light fixtures.

Definately another step back in time-  excellent service, great pancakes, and a LONG wait to get seated too due to the popularity.  For those of us mid-centurians that grew up with this, it was a great nostalgic experience!  So happy it hasn't been torn down and replaced with another condo project or strip mall....worth saving.

The next nostalgic expeirence was the Burgermaster Drive-In restaurant, featuring a living example of a classic 1950's drive in experience.  www.burgermaster.biz/

Park, they take your order, then bring out your food and put it on a tray that clips on to your side window, while you eat in your car.  The only missing was the girls serving the food weren't on roller skates!!  But it was fun, great original architecture only slightly modified.  And they even had a veggie burger too for those of us that don't eat meat, something I'm sure they didn't have in the 1950s!!
