Events in Delray Beach- Thursday, January 19th...It’s
“New York City” On the Ave!

Delray Beach’s Atlantic Avenue could be considered the heart of our city and Thursday nights have become our night to celebrate the arts.  You won’t want to miss this Thursday, January 19th, as On the Ave salutes New York City!

On the Ave

Presented by the Delray Beach Marketing Cooperative the Avenue will transform into NYC beginning at 6:30.  As in all of the On the Ave events there will be music but what will separate this from previous events is the presence of street musicians rather than bands.  Other NYC highlights are:

-Street performers
-drums at Old School Square and Worthing Park

-”unplugged” musicians for that up close and personal touch
-a NYC taxi display
-a replica of the Washinton Square Park Arch
-and foods and dishes associated with NYC

The event is Free and covers Atlantic Avenue from Swinton to S.E. 6th  on the aveAvenue.  The temps should be moderate so grab the family and head to Downtown Delray Beach.

Kathy, this sounds like a great event and theme. Always fun to particpate in the celebration of the "Arts" in our local communities. We meet the most interesting people. Talent and interesting must go together. Hope you will be going. Have a great week!

Atlantic Avenue....probably a street withthat name in every east coast town. Not sure why I chose to comment like that instead of saying that sounds like a fun time.

This sounds like so much fun...it's below zero here right now so we won't be enjoying anything like this for awhile!

This event shows me Gotham is on the move in Delray Beach. The Delray Beach Marketing Co-Operative is beyond creative. Much success with this very different event!

BARFF, you made me want to cry for two reasons.

1.  I should be there right now enjoying this event and

2.  I miss NYC and you!

Capt. Wayne- if you're down this way, you've got to go to Atlantic Ave.  It's so much fun.

Jeanean- if the weather is good, we may make it.  It's so relaxing to just walk along the ave and people watch.

Barbara- when I grew up in Houston we had the Westheimer Arts Festival, but the major difference was in Houston you had a crowd of hundreds of thousands.

Gary- I know you're close enough so you should drive down some time.

Sharon- my chills that I have (have a cold) just got chllier hearing it's zero degrees there.  How do you stand it???

Emily- you're in a prime art festival place!  I attended some kind of festival once in the square there and it was so much fun.

John- happy Monday to you too!  We should have a good turnout since the snowbirds are back.

BARFF- ok things do work out for a reason.  You wouldn't want to be here now .. have a cold.
