The Georgia Thatre was started in the mid-1970s , they started off with new wave acts .ike Pylon and the B-52s to alternative rock bands such as R.E.M and Drivin' and crying. The New waves bands were reharsing ro perfrom gigs on stages that were yet to be built. Athens had no idea that they had the fans that they had, a few musix lovers were in the town and they got their family and friends and came together as one. Fans are so eager to hear live music and except it everywhere they go. Recently John Mayer and Widespread Panic have filmed at the Georgia Theatre. Rocking and Rolling the Georgia Theatre was doing great until a fire in 2009. They town raised up to 4.5 million dollars to rebuild the historic theatre. Rumors were that if you put your ear to the shell that was left after the building succumbed , you could hear the echos of crashing symbols and booming basses. You need to come out and listen to these awesome bands, bring out some family and friends and go to the GEORIGA THEATRE!
