Motorcycles Can Change Your Life

I called to talk to a friend and she answered the phone sobbing.  Her fiancé and business partner was in a motorcycle accident 4 blocks from their home in Lakeland Florida.  The wedding was planned for Thanksgiving weekend just a week from now.  My friend asked me if I know a smart real estate lawyer in Lakeland Florida.  I don't.  Do you?  Let me know so I can pass it on to her.

The last time I talked to her she was glowing and chattering about this wonderful man and how much she loved him.  She told me how he hadn't left her side since hurricane Wilma.  He dropped everything to go to the Keys to save her home that had been flooded.  He ripped out the drywall and got to work renovating.  She didn't know what she would do without him.  We were standing in her yard when he called to say he had a flat tire.  She took off in her flip flops to rescue him.  She was going to introduce me to him that day.

Today, I'm consoling her through a telephone as she sobs and grieves.  I'm hearing about his favorite country songs and a concert they went to and that he had once sang with Willie Nelson.  If things were not bad enough, her 78 year old mom found out she has cancer in a lung and her heart this week.  Her mother-in-law to be also has cancer.

In an instant her life has changed forever.  Hug the people you love.  Tell them how much they mean to you.  Don't let today end with out telling the people you love how much you love them.

Maya..I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. She must be devastated. My husband wanted a motorcycle and I didn't feel comfortable with the idea. They seem like alot of fun but I would be worried about the other drivers not seeing him. I will say a prayer for your friend.

Thank you Pam, you are an angel.

My husband wants one too so I know exactly how you feel!  My mom had an accident and was at Ryer Trauma for a month and in physical therapy at the hospital for another month.  Nearly every person was a motorcycle accident victim.  A half dozen people had those triangle things with screws in their head.  Some were missing hands, arms and legs.

Thank you for your prayers.

God bless.

I use to ride motorcycles until I had my Twins. Some day when they are grown up and in college, I'd still like to get one. There's risk in life every day. We just have to manage it as best as we can and don't let fear rule. Just take extra cautions!

Yes, MOTORCYCLES are dangerous because of vehicle drivers and those bikers who take it for granted riding the bikes, and those who don't wear helmets.

AND Cancer SUCKS! I'm helping a customer on the Island now with some home repairs and other needs. He was just diagnosed with tumor on the spine. He starts x-ray treatment and chemo soon. He said that his doctor didn't give a good prognosis. Cancer Sucks! I lost my mother to liver cancer: relatively quick and extremely PAINFUL.

no cheers on this topic

Wow Kim,
You sure reach an emotional chord when you write.  You are supportive, empathetc and positive all at the same time.  Inspiring.  I'm sorry about your mom and your client-friend.

It's cool that you have twins!  That would be my idea of winning the lottery!  I would go to Twinsburg Ohio every year for the twin thing.  How fun!  What kind of twins are they and how old?  What a handful!  Are they the same or opposite?  Twins are the coolest people in the world.  Do you have other kids too?

You are so brave to ride!  My husband was teaching me and it was scary!

Maya, I'm so sorry for your friend. I can't bookmark the page, though...otherwise my wife might think twice about our plans to hit the road on motorcycles when the kids get out! It's risky, I know...but there's just something about the freedom of it.

I don't remember the exact statistic, but at some small number of years of riding it's nearly impossible to have avoided some type of wreck.

Hi Joey,
Thank you so much :)  I totally understand about the bookmark ;)  I've promised to buy my husband a new motorcycle next year.  They are dangerous and they are fun.  A loving wife can't deny a loyal hard working husband some wholesome all American fun!

Enjoy the ride!
