Volunteer in Golden
As you may have noticed, I think Golden is a wonderful place! There is always something going on that is free, or with your donation helps out the various businesses and communities all around the city of Golden. The local Golden businesses and citizens that are supported by our commerce are always giving too! I think it is time to give back by becoming a volunteer. You can make a huge difference in your community by being a volunteer and sharing your love for this wonderful city with those around you.
So where do you start? Luckily, the city of Golden has you covered. By filling out an application, the Human Resources department will set you up with an opportunity in an area you show interest in. You can volunteer to be a tour guide for one of Golden’s History Museums. You will provide visitors with information about the city’s rich history, dress in historical costume, and demonstrate how people lived, worked, and played all around Clear Creek. There are three different historical sites to choose to volunteer for including the Astor House Museum, Clear Creek History Park, and the Golden History Center.
If you are fortunate to speak another language, you could volunteer to be an interpreter. As a volunteer history interpreter, you can provide wonderful information on the history of Golden to out-of-town visitors. You will have the opportunity to provide demonstrations too on activities such as: animal care and gardening, poultry education and care, historical hearth and stove cooking, butter churning, sewing, laundry and cleaning, blacksmithing, carpentry, and pottery. Share your love of language and knowledge by becoming a volunteer history interpreter today!
And, wait; there’s more! These are just two of the volunteer opportunities available in Golden! You could also volunteer as a firefighter, program aid for the Golden Parks and Rec. Department, Hands on History Assistant, Front Desk personnel, Community Child Care Volunteer, or Police Department support staff. Sign up to meet, mingle, and educate other citizens of Golden. Volunteer opportunities can be limited in some areas and training is often required. Become a Golden volunteer today!
