I received a call from a woman who was going through a tough personal period in her life.  She knew that she had to stage her home in order for her to sell it, and move on with her new phase in life.  The cost of staging was too prohibitive for her so she opted to do a consultation.  She followed every advice and direction to the letter.

With a few walls painted, lots of moving stuff out, and rearranging, and minor tweaking on my part, here is what we were able to do.

BEFORE - PLAYROOM/DINING AREA                                     AFTER - DINING IN STYLE

BEFORE - Accent wall from playroom              AFTER - neutralized wall, painted 2 tones for height

BEFORE - Family Room unruly and undefined            AFTER - Classic style - Family room

BEFORE - family room opposite wall from entrance          BEFORE - Family room mantel

AFTER - Family Room Retreat

    BEFORE - mismatched everywhere

AFTER - Calm & soothing masterbedroom

   BEFORE - Eating area

AFTER - painted the top of moulding a light green to carry off hte French Provencial theme.  The beige walls did not do the kitchen justice as it made the white cabinets look drab and dingy.

This showcases how a great partnership and great communication works!  It was put up on the market this week in Rock Hill, SC.

Great partnership with great results. I like the two tones in the family room and going to just two colors in the

Master.

Marcyne- You did a great job in communicating well the needed changes for the client. Very rewarding for both of you, and great marketing for the house. How much detail did you provide on changing the window treatments?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING YA'LL.  I am turning into a Southerner, aren't I??

Kathleen, thanks for the comments.  The Masterbedroom, believe it or not, is one color of blue AND the ORIGINAL color that was on the wall.  The bedding and re-accessorizing makes it look different, doesn't it?

Betty, Kathy, and Rhonda - thanks, not only did the owner follow advice, she loved it so much, she got her agent in to see the transformation right as we were finishing the last details.  He was sold on staging and is convinced, even in this market, it will sell faster.  The Realtor was so excited, I wants me to come in and do a presentation in his office.

Kathy R- this project really was a work of love and compassion.  I didn't charge her the normal rates and really stayed way over my time to tweak the house with her.  I told her exactly how I wanted to dress up the windows.  Luckily, I had a very eager and willing client who loves to sew.  The window treatments were existing, but were transformed by changing out tassles, etc. For example, in the family room, the cornice window treatment, before the underlining was a floral print that made the whole house feel outdated and country-like.  I had her re-lne the underlining with black to simplify and give it more of a modern look.

Fernado, thanks for the compliments. You can tell just how much time you put into some projects by looking at them, can't you??  Luckily, every now and then, we can pull off a quickie that looks like you've invested more than you actually did. (but you're right, this wasn't the quickie).

Maria- thanks for bringing the "team" factor into this.  I LOVE to hear success stories from other stagers and complimentary work that they do, because if one of us looks bad, we all can have the potential to look bad.  I LOVE this business!

Tarenia, I think the personal factor is what motivated me the most.  The fact that I knew I was there to help her get on with the next phase in her life.  I am praying for a quick sale.

The family room looks perfect.    I bet it was a joy to work with someone who actually "got it"!   Some of the clients do,  many don't.

Connie, WOW, I guess it's been awhile since I've last been on ActiveRain, didn't even know I got your comments til just stumbling upon it.  Thanks for the compliment.  It is an awesome moment when you see clients and realtors "getting" it.

Kristina & Georgina, Thanks for the kind words. That was a great working relationship and project.  I was the conductor but she actually sang the song.  It's late and I don't even know if that is a saying, but I'm sticking w/it. ( :

It is a challenge to work with a limited budget, but how rewarding to know that you helped your client achieve such wonderful results. I believe that is the core of staging... creative solutions to property merchandising. Obviously a win/win for all! Thank you for sharing your very creative work, Marcyne.

Kathy, I am honored, thank you.

Wendy, I think that one of my most rewarding because we really did need to get creative.  Half the drapes were drapes she had, but either she changed just the lining and edged it with scrap material she had left over from another project or she got sheets and started tucking and pinning to make a slipcover.  It was a good thing she could sew that was for sure!
