So much training and lip service has been done in the realm of Social Media and Tech in the real estate industry. To tweet or not to tweet, facebook, klout, foursquare, etc...  Does it work?  Is it worthwhile?

And WOW!  The opinions are strong aren't they?  "It's a waste of time."  "Show me the money."  "Face to face is the only way to last."  "Hop on the tech train and fade into history."  "The times are a'changing, better keep up."

As with most hot topics, the answer is really in the "DOING", isn't it?  Sure, it can all be a huge time drain, but what about those who do it strategically?  Who put technology into their business plans and schedules and lead generation systems and wring every last drop of value out of it all?  Those results can't be ignored.

I have been reviewing business plans for 2012 with all of my agents and it has been fascinating.  The focus on systems and tracking that we have worked on in 2011 have yielded actual tracking results for business sources for these agents.  One agent can attribute 40% of her business directly to successfuly converted SIGN CALLS!  (I'll have to share her methods in another blog!)

The focused, systemized and dedicated "Techies" have remarkably high conversion rates for internet leads.   They use systems, they follow schedules and the results are sales.

So obviously - my guidance has been "Play to your strengths!"  If technology is working and you are working it instead of it working you - run with it in 2012!  Follow it in all those new crazy directions it is bound to go - some will work and some won't.  Track it and learn from it.

As one of the launch sites for a great new class called BOLD Technology that we are hosting January 26th, "Tech with a Purpose" will be the focus.  Can't wait to learn, observe, and follow myself!

To Your Success!

Hi Rhonda....I just read about "who's blogging" on Melissa's post and thought I'd say hi....I do marketing for my team and it IS fun.... time consuming but fun..... it makes the phone ring; directs traffic to our open house events and provides sellers with samples of what they will see after we list their homes....the benefits go on and on.... happy blogging.

Great post Rhonda!  Welcome to Active Rain.  You won't be sorry about your decision to become a Rainmaker.  AR is a unique place like no other I've ever come across in our industry.  The best thing is the attitude, nothing but positive!  Have fun!

Excellent first blog!  As a techy myself (spent 20 years in high-tech), you're right, we do convert internet leads very well.  I hope the class is a success.  In the meantime...

Welcome to Activerain!

My role as Ambassador is to offer help and assistance to new members to get them off the ground to succesful blogging.  One of the best parts about this community is that there are many members offering excellent tips on how to blog better.

My first suggestion is to go to Activerain University.  There you'll learn the basics of writing a good blog article as well as comments.  I'd also suggest looking at some of the top bloggers and looking at how they structure their blogs.  A few folks to consider include:

One of the best groups to submit your posts to is Bananatude and I'm a moderator there along with several others.  When you post a story there, you'll get a lot of regular readers stopping by with comments.  Many members of that group are Ambassadors and regular members who just like to help.  The founder, Anna Krutchen, is a very gracious educator of new members.  Please stop by the group and get in touch with her.

Lastly, one of the best ways to make friends here is to comment every day.  Don't focus on points as much as just writing something relevant to the blogs you read.  If you really like a particular writer, then subscribe to their blog.  Subscribing is an easy way to find new posts from authors you like.

If I can help you in any way, please feel free to call or write.  I'm happy to help.  Stop by my blog as well.  If you like it, please subscribe.  I look forward to reading your comments.

Rhonda, I stopped over because of Melissa's post.  WTG for jumping in.  I'm sure that the time you spend on here will reward you - first in the information you'll learn from the great members and from the internet exposure which will drive home buyers and sellers to you.  It takes time, but it does work.

Rhonda,

I too came because of Melissa, but i wanted to point out one huge thing missing from your blog...

LINKS.  The more links to other sights the more SEO and the higher you climb up google.  The content is great, the length is great, but the SEO will be low.

Welcome and Good Luck.

Rhonda - Headed over here to give you a great big welcome to Active Rain after reading Melissa's post.  I've found technology played a big part of my marketing in 2011 and looking to ramp up some additional strategies in 2012.  Looking forward to seeing more great posts from you in the future.

Thanks to all for the advice and comments.  I DO have a long way to go - lots of homework and trial by error I think.  I'll be hounding Melissa for help of course, but am impressed by this community already.

Feel free to school me anytime!

Rhonda, welcome to Active Rain. Most new bloggers need to take some time to "find their voice," but it looks like you'll be fine.

Excellent post.  Best wishes for great success on the ActiveRain network.

On tech issues, what are you recommending for photo editing now that Picnik is going away on April 19th?  The answer would be a good post for you.

Yes, I agreed face to face and does bring more business. Simple idea that work great for me, passing out ten business card to one past client and requests past client sharing with their center of influence. I appreciate you are doing this for me.
