Desperate For A Little Weight Loss Help....

Okay, everyone, I have an obstacle that I can't get over.  I lose weight, but one spot stays the same - my lower abs.  I keep the tire, and I need to find a way to kick that tires butt!

Even when I was anorexic at 15, I still had that lower belly.  That kept feeding that "I'm fat" mentality, because it simply wouldn't go away.

Does anyone have any great tips for the tire?  Something other than sit ups, which I swear just make it worse?

Thanks!

I swear by an old Greer Childress Infomercial Tape called Body Flex.  10 - 15 minutes 2x a day fixed the whole body and especially the abs.  It looks funny, it sounds funny, but it worked for me.  2X a day is the key though.  You use your abs in every exercise so the whole ab area really gets toned, if you do it.

I was dieting at the time too.  I'm interested to see what other's say.

The science is simple.  We all know the routine.  Just burn more calories than you eat.  We know that works.  So.... what to do about the tire?

My research and experience (friends, family and myself included) indicates that you can do sit-ups all day long and not lose the tire if you don't burn the fat in the tire.  You might end up with the most muscular abs but you won't see them if there's something in the way (the tire).  I would suggest increasing cardio (running, biking, etc).  Even lighten up on the weight training if necessary.  The tire will go away slowly.  Good luck Joslyn!!

Joslyn - You are a brave women! Talking about weight loss. I wish it was only a tire I had to lose, I have a tire, junk in the trunk and then some! Good luck and just keep consistent with your plan and it will come together. *wink*

Joslyn,

I agree with what some of the others have suggested, increasing your cardio burns the fat. When it comes to getting great abs your diet is the key to success,  check out The Eat Clean Diet it will give you an idea of what I mean. I hope this helps, great abs is always the goal but they require the most discipline. :)

Kate - Very interesting!  I'll have to look into that!

Richard - Well, I haven't gotten as much biking in this year as I would have liked, and since we keep getting hit with snow lately, I am just not sure that it will happen anytime soon......

Candace - I have some junk in the trunk, too.  We all have our little issues, though.....  :)

Suzanne - The Eat Clean Diet.  What this made me think of is when I was little and would eat stuff off the floor in stores, etc.  So you are saying that the dirty food I ate is the reason I have a tire?

LOL!  Just kidding!  I will look into it!

I agree with Kate.  It looks and sounds funny but if you take the time to do it correctly AND consistently... it does work.  You can see results with it over time.   But Suzanne has made excellent suggestions as well.

You might want to talk to a nutritionist or your doctor. There might be something in your diet that is preventing you from losing that pesky tire.

first of all......congratulations on beating your anorexia, you must be very strong-willed. It seems as though you are happy with the exception of this one problem. Perhaps you should schedule one appointment with a reputable personal trainer. They should be able to help you more than a "class" or "group activities" would.
