Will You Ever Stop Paying The Messenger?

By
Education & Training with How To Stay In Touch

Traditional real estate agents need to pay the messenger because they don't know any better. Slowly but surely a new breed of real estate agents are using tools that help them not to pay the messenger.

This is what Seth Goldin had to say, "When the internet drove the cost of something down to zero, the equation changed, because you don't need to pay the messenger when your offer is so irresistible."

This is what I have learned from Seth and others:

  • A free email newsletter to your listing area is not cheap because it's free, but rather, "you don't need much of a marketing effort to get the word out" according to Seth .
  • I have found that my free email newsletter, to my listing area, is irresistible because people cannot believe they get it for free. And secondly: they enjoy it so much they help me to spread the word when they pass it on to friends.
  • My ability to send an irresistible local news story via email makes my message viral as emails are easy and free to forward.

Are you ready to stop paying the messenger?

I know that to stop paying will not happen overnight but it should not stop you from embracing the tools to do it. Start cultivating relationships and use zero cost internet tools as from today.

P.S. One of the errors with real estate blogs are that many don't have an integrated newsletter and a automated solution to send blog post to their subscribers.

Psychologically, people tend to think something with a price tag is of more value than something that is free. By now, with higher exposure, the fact of what you say about the Internet should be apparent to all.

Hi Yes. You are right about Internet should be apparent to all when you refer to the online community of real estate agents. But there was an article on how few real estate agents have blogs compared to the real estate agents out there. And this is more intended for these guys that are taking the first steps and who needs the ABC.

Thanks for your comment.
