Omaha Real Estate     Contributed by David Matney with Alliance Real Estate

Some things are so simple yet are often overlooked.  When was the last time you REALLY looked at your yard sign?  Is it faded?  Is it readable?  How far away from the sign can you be and still read the sign?  Is the font a readable font?  Have you driven by your sign at night?  What is the furthest away you can be and still read the sign at night? Do you have the company number or the company website on your sign?  Why do you want YOUR leads going to the company?  (I do have the company website on my sign but I am one of the owners of the Alliance Real Estate Sold Signfirm.)

In Omaha during the winter months, your sign can be invisible?  During winter months buyers and sellers are driving home from work in the dark.  Those are potential buyers and seller who can not see your yard sign.  Here is a tip to make your signs more visible.  More visibility, more traffic, more business.  In fact, yard signs are a way of getting future listings.  On my yard signs I have my number done in Highway reflective tape.  It does not fade and it stands WAY OUT especially at night.  It is pretty cool and it has a long shelf life because the signs are reusable.  In fact, I have attibuted to obtaining several listings from using this technique.  I even have several signs designed specificly for high traffic streets or for a street with lots of FSBOs.  The number, website and SOLD sign are all done in reflective tape.

Sometimes, I have even had referrals from past clients specificly ask for the "high traffic" sign.  It is kinda fun and it is a easy way to differentiate yourself from the competition.

Thanks,

Those reflective signs are really great, especially in rural areas.   I have found that tall posts also make them easier to see at a distance.

I also have a color picture of me and a cell phone number.

Most Excellent Idea! I will be talking to my sign company about this on Monday

Todd, help yourself.  Thanks for the comment.

Randy, I have never thought about having them taller at a distance.  Good point.  Yikes, photo of me would not be a selling point.  :-)  Thanks, for the comment.

This is awesome.  Makes you wonder why we didn't put this tape on our signs years ago.  I am definitely investing in some right away.  Thanks

GREAT ARTICLE,

I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY OF THESE SIGNS YET IN PERSON, BUT IT SURE SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT IDEA!

MAYBE THEY CAN MAKE BATTERY RECHARGABLE LIGHT-UP SIGNS TOO.

OR JUST USE REFLECTIVE PAINTS THAT CAN BE SEEN AT NIGHT.  JUST LIKE THE PAINT USED ON THE CURBS

FOR ADDRESSES AND SUCH.

Troy, thanks for the comment.

Alan, thanks for the comment.

Matt, I agree the whole business is built around little things.

Ryan, signs are a big deal.  My number rider is a total investment of $36.00.  $18 for the rider and $18 for the reflective lettering.

Jeff, thanks for the comment.
