Meet Mike

From time to time, I ask members of my team at CB Ashburn to contribute to our office blog.  Below is a posting by one of our team members that I wanted to share on ActiveRain as well.  One of my favorite things about leading our office is the diversity of backgrounds that equal success in real estate.  You have to love a construction forman/stand up comic that has all the right tools.

Hello all, my name is Mike O'Hara. I'm a full time Real Estate Professional Licenced in both VA and MD. I'm not much of a Blogger but I thought I'd share a little about my self and specifically, a few of my ideas for some creative Marketing. First, I just recently resigned from a twenty year construction career with a Local Union where I ran jobs, both big and small, as a foreman. I thought I would be a good candidate for a career in Real Estate, due to my vast experience with deadlines, coordinating, reading drawings and specifications as well as dealing with many different personalities in any given day. I also draw experience from an executive position that I held with that Union.
Now for the fun part, Marketing and Self Promotion. I am currently going door to door in a farm area. Eventually, I will cover many areas. I'm actually knocking on doors, as opposed to just leaving door hangers. I think I can make a good impression by getting some face time. As a bonus, I'll hopefully lose some weight from all the walking. (You know you're getting fat when you have to go up a shoe size.) I have zero fear of rejection, proven by the fact that I worked for the 2000 census in 1999. I won't be swayed by negativity at someone's doorstep. (Heck, most of my dates end up with the woman slamming the door in my face anyway.)
Another way I plan on getting the word out is through Stand Up Comedy. I have some experience doing that, and it just so happens that I have some material that will segue perfectly into announcing to the few or many in the crowd, that I am, in fact a Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Professional. I also plan on putting on free comedy shows, titled "The Mike O'Hara Real Estate Free Comedy Show" twice a year in some of the counties that I feel will benefit my career. I'll have more on that later. I'll end this now, as I've just created more work for Brian (BVP CB Ashburn) due to the fact that he'll have to edit my post for grammar and run on sentences. -Mike O'Hara
