Hi, We Represent Realtors On Google

You are so right, Nathan. I also get these annoying phone calls at least once or twice every week. They don't really follow the do not call list.

Just Google ItHave you had this call? I must get that same call from people representing Realtors on Google, Bing, MSN, Yahoo, etc. at least twice a week. So recently I decided to have a little fun with one of these guys. I asked him how he got my number. “I Googled Davenport Realtor,” was his reply. Strike 1.

Then I asked how he could help me. “We help Realtors get recognized on Google.” Being the smart ass I am I said “Well it sounds like I’m already recognized on Google, you found me didn’t you?” At this point he started getting upset. Strike 2.

Then I mentioned that my number is on the do not call registry and I’m pretty sure it’s a $10,000 fine for each offense. Now he’s yelling. “Well your number is advertised online so that makes it ok to telemarket to you.” “That may be, but I’m not convinced that the federal government will see it that way.” At this point the guy is fuming mad. And I’m sitting there thinking about how funny he must look getting all angry. “Sir, could I get you name please?” Click, he hung up on me. Strike 3. You’re out of there!

While telemarketing might be legal, it’s still really uncool. If I want your services I’ll look you up on Google, just the same way you looked me up. Have a good evening everyone. Just thought I’d bring a little humor to the world.

Ha ha, I love messing with telemarketers.  This is very funny and can't wait to try it for myself.

Sometimes I feel like it's a no-win situation avoiding these calls.  For a while I used my office number online and let it forward to my cell.  I haven't done this in a while, but when I did, the system was set up to send office calls to voicemail and call the agent's cell to let us know there was a message.  So what happened?  That was not a good option because, I did not get direct calls from anyone looking me up on my AR profile.  They'd go the the office number. I'd try to call back and we'd end up in a case of phone tag.  Now that I've put my cell on my online profile, telemarketers are using and abusing it.  So frustrating.

I love this information.  I dont want leads from some other company that just does seo or ranks me higher on google. And i dont want to buy leads ever. I want referrals. Sadly we sometimes get sidetracked. Young Realtors, spend the money taking a friend for coffee, and ask for referrals. Invest in yourself, NOT some stranger on the phone.
