I have had this question asked many times in the last couple of weeks.  My answer:  Make sure it's not over the top and/or religious.  Remember that you're appealing to the masses and not everyone believes the same way you do.  Part of selling a home is making the potential buyers feel welcome.  You can do that with minimal decorations.  Forget the Christmas tree and use greenery, pine-cones, red and green candles etc. instead.  Also, the tree usually takes up valuable square footage.  Make sure your senses aren't overwhelmed either.  Cinnamon and spices are really pungent at times so be careful.  Try a clean scent like pine or apple potpourri.  Lastly, don't forget about the front curb.  Please don't put out the blow up Santa or the giant snow globe.  Try decorating with wreaths, ribbons, and only a few lights.  Forget the neighborhood contest and matching the Griswolds!  Remember...You are trying to appeal to many different backgrounds and religions.    If you need help, call your nearest Home Stager, we can help and give you an honest opinion.  Happy Holidays!
