Can we talk ~ E Newsletters?

By

I have moved and switched markets in the last couple of months and find I have more time than anything else right now.  Therefore, I am taking advantage of this time to hone in on my marketing plans.  I have been considering doing an E-Newsletter and want to hear from those of you who are doing this or have in the past.  I seem to have more questions at this point than answers.

Do you feel adding an e-newsletter in your marketing plan has helped your business?

How often is often enough to send them out?

Do you gear to a specific group....ie: investors? sellers? community news? buyers? or all of the above?

Do you write the entire newsletter yourself or have others contribute?

Is it worth all the time it takes to write?

I would love to hear about the success and/or failures of this marketing plan.

Hi Renee! We are just starting one and I'll post about how it works out...I don't mind getting them once a month from others, although I can't say as I always read them. I can say that I don't resent them and I do think of the lenders and others that send them to me when I receive them. Keeping fresh in their minds is the key.

I send one out on the first of each month to my database (past clients, SOI, etc.).  I use constantcontact to monitor who opens it and which articles they click on so that I can continually refine the content to what they seem to be most interested in.  I write some of the articles and/or compile stats on the market, and sometimes just include/link to other articles I've come across.  I also use it to publicize my recent blog posts.

I think it's been successful in that it keeps my name in front of people at least once a month.  I often have people respond to the email...sometimes weeks later...saying 'hey, I just gave your name to someone and forwarded them your newsletter.'  Good luck!
