Where Do the Mermaids Stand?
Mimi Foster wrote a thought provoking post today about Your Gravestone, and what your inscription would read.
There are many beautiful and caring inscriptions that a loved one can express on a stone, but I commented that I wanted to be cremated so no Stone for me...
I hadn't thought about a gravestone, but I have thought about my service.
I would like some Dixieland jazz, not because I've been to New Orleans and experienced it first hand, but because you can't listen to Dixieland jazz and sit still! I don't want people to be sad I want people to celebrate life.
But I also want people to understand you can be different and its okay too. So I would like Robert Fulgum to speak at my service as well.
Because I am a mermaid...
In New England if you go thru the old cvhurch yards there are some intersting epitaphs on some of the grave stones. some quite humorous. I think your media "Grave stone" as you have outlined it here is pretty good
Peg:
Thanks for the morning tears in my eyes. Very touching video. Hope you have a great weekend.
All Mountain, I love reading some of the gravestones, some make you laugh, some make you cry...
Alan&Michelle, I've always found this essay by Robert Fulghum very touching too, and I related to it too!
I wasn't expecting it to be so emotional...how beautiful. Thank you for sharing this, I have shared on facebook because I have never heard it and think it's something that should be shared as much as possible!
Sharon, I agree, it is so beautiful and I think there are a lot of mermaids out there that need to hear it! Thanx for sharing it!
You are just too cute! What a wonderful tribute! When my girls were little, I would put on Ottmar Liebert and we would do our housework dancing. I told them that I want Ottmar at my funeral so that they always think of me fondly and the fun we used to have.
I have two plans for when I die. One if my wife is still alive and one if she isn't.
Mimigirl, when I used to volunteer at our public radio station CKUA, we got to go to events sometimes and saw Ottmar Liebert live! He had a belly dancer dancing during parts of that show and it was awesome! I think having him playing as part of a service would be wonderful!
Vern, very smart! I can understand that.
