Many people in the good times of real estate were able to get away from the basics and let the sellers come to them.  Those days are over.  If you want the buyers, then you will have to go out and get them.  But what to do?

This will vary depending on the area, the market and clients. However the following is a suggested list of things to do:

1.  Introduce yourself to anyone you meet, and give them a card.

2.  Drop business cards at different locations.

3.  A monthly mailer to your farms.

4.  Walk your farms and meet the people in the area.

5.  Hold an event in your neighborhood, such as a garage sale or easter egg hunt.

The more you get your name out there, the better the response will be.

I always say to wear a name tag.  Otherwise you are a secret agent.

Great recommendations to crank up in these days..  The competition is high but certainly keeping your name out there can turn the tide.  Thank you for reminding me.  I haven't done the leaving my cars at various places.  I will order more cards.

Thank you Jeff for the reminder to wear my name tag too

Hey Matthew!

I print out articles from my blog and I market those when I'm out and about! Whether it's in the local neighborhood or at the local caravan! You get all kinds of reactions and it's a great way to spruce up your marketing!

Nice to meet ya!

# 1 for me is to introduce myself to everyon. The checkout clerk at the grocery store, the barista at Starbucks, every waiter/waitress that serves me. Think of all the people they come into contact with. This part of the business is truly a numbers game.

This is great advice that some agents have never had to do to get business because they came in as you put it when sellers found them. It is a little work, but I think more rewarding to earn your business, instead of having it handed to you.

Todd I totally agree with you.  That is all I know is to work hard to get sellers, so when a good market comes around again, I will do really well in it. I am doing fine even in the market I am in right now.
