Yesterday, I channeled Scott of the Antarctic. Familiar with his last words, "I am stepping outside and I will be back in a moment" ?

Living on a hill is not conducive to a leisurely walk to work when a snow storm hits Seattle. Walking the 2 miles to work downhill is challenging, the uphill portion is worse! I felt pretty optimistic as I viewed Queen Anne Avenue North on my way home but I was pretty cranky when i got to the top!

I also discovered, much to my chagrin, that my so-called "weather-proof" gloves from REI must have been referring to tropical weather, as i had frozen digits when I arrived at work.

I was hoping for a hero's welcome when I walked into the ActiveRain office. No such luck!  A little mirth, and then back to work.

Seattle is not geared for snow.

1) people have no idea how to drive in snow

2) we don't salt the roads

3) We have a really hilly topography

4) we go to pieces when the the little, white flurries come down

We are much better suite for gray skies and rain! I am very happy today is the normal grizzle (a hybrid of gray and drizzle peculiar to the Seattle area).
