OK Realtors, here's the honest truth, as a fellow Realtor.....

As I spend more years inside the Real Estate business, I find something very hard to digest.  As a Realtor, with the code of ethics we have and all must uphold - why is it that we try to sell a property that we know is a mess, in need of Staging, or a least a massive clutter-removal, and yet nothing is done to help the seller gain his true value of the property, as well as gaining our true commissions?  WE ARE AFRAID TO OFFEND THE SELLER.

It is preposterous to me.  In fact, it seems unbelieveable that these listings sit and sit and sit on the market with no movement, helping neither the realtor or the seller gain our true goal - THE SALE of the property.  To its utmost potential, value and quickest time on the market.  This not only increases our potential for more sales, alleviating our time marketing, promoting through open houses, and other advertising means - it just makes sense.  And it seems to me, our duty to the seller.  But why is everyone afraid to tell that seller his house is cluttered, arranged poorly, or has tasteless pictures with yarn that turn off the buyer?

Why?  Don't they want to sell it?  Of COURSE they do.  And sometimes, sellers need the hard to swallow truth.  The truth that will help them attain their goal.  They need help.  WE need help telling them so.  It is our duty to do this, I believe.  How can it be any different?  We are not allowed to lie about anything else relating to the property, why are we allowed to turn away and not HELP the seller when they need it, and we blatantly know they do?

You may disagree, but isn't it important to create that home in the best light as possible?  To make sure it sells for the highest price (which is good for us, right?) and in the fastest time possible?  (This also helps us).

I urge my fellow realtors to get smarter - think about how Staging a property helps both of us, the agent as well as the seller.  Think differently.  Try something new that is proven to help in the sale of homes and join an entire state that knows the value of Staging.  California.   75% of sellers in California stage their homes.  Realtors won't even take a client to a listing that hasn't been staged because they know Staged Homes sell faster.  They don't want to waste their time showing another dog property that sellers have to visualize better.

Staging works.  Would you sell your own car without thoroughly detailing it and presenting it shiny, spotless and in the best condition possible?  Then WHY IN THE WORLD  don't we do the same with homes.  You tell me.
