Purchasing a home matters and it is not as easy as you saying you are ready to purchase!
You do need to be ready in all senses of the word. Be ready to follow a few important rules. Attention buyers that are in the process of purchasing a home or even thinking about it: Here are few tips - especially for First Time Home Buyers:
- Gather all the requested documents that you are asked to provide
- QUICKLY return all requested documents.
- NEVER open new credit card/charge account.
- NEVER make large cash or personal check deposits into your bank account.
First Time Home Buyers (FTHB) tend to experience these kinds of temptations of going out and purchasing a new car, tv or something because they cannot wait until after escow. Some even take vacations! All of these are "DO NOTs" if you are in the market to purchase a home.
In some cases it does not make sense for you to think about big purchases - even after the close of your escrow because remember you sttll have to make the payments for your new home! Do not put yourself in the position that when its time for the first payment - you end up starting off on the wrong foot because you went out and "celebrated" a little too much. A new home does not necessarily mean you have to purchase all new furniture! Budget yourself.
Make sure you are purchasing a home for all the right reasons and that the property, payments and terms will work for you and your family.
Keep in mind that this is the one of the most important decisions you will make and that it is a huge decision. Real estate is an important and can be a deal of a life time.

Good information- many agents forget to tell their clients this up front...can be a fast end to a dream come true!
Yes Faith (and I love your name)! Thank you and it is very important to tell your home buyers this and you may need to tell them more than once!!
Great reminder to clients. Had a client buy a car a week before settlement and then wondered why the mortgage lender was upset. I've learned to talk with clients about this up front, but a good reminder for us all.
I also like your definition of Realist.
