A Concept from Chevrolet – the VOLT

I was browsing on a green living website this morning, and I came across a banner with an advertisement that caught my eye.  It was a banner for an electric car from Chevrolet, the Volt.  http://www.chevrolet.com/electriccar/

This vehicle features an onboard 3-cylinder 1.0L Turbocharged, inter-cooled internal combustion engine allows you to keep driving when your electric battery needs to be recharged. This range extender can be configured to run on gasoline, E85 or biodiesel. The model shown will use gasoline or E85 interchangeably and can hold up to 12 gallons of fuel.  Pretty Cool Technology!

While it’s unlikely this particular model will ever be produced, it goes to show you that the big car companies ARE starting to focus on alternative technologies.  As more and more consumers begin to demand environmentally friendly vehicles, more will be put into this technology, and we might start to see more models actually produced and made available to the public.  It’s definitely a step in the right direction!

As always, feel free to comment if you have any questions, or anything to add!

Jonelle - It is my belief that the only reason"Detroit" doesnt' produce more of these is because the American consumer isn't buying enough hydrid cars yet---  The way for us to influence them is with our spenmding practices!  Good post!
