Effective today, the stamp prices will increase one cent for first class one ounce envelope. An additional ounce still remains at an additional .20 cents.
Postcards increase from 29 cents and now are 32 cents.
The reason for this is due to the 20% decline in mail services and the continue increased loss that more then doubled this past year with the U.S. Postal Service.
The U.S. Postal Service is taking cost cutting measures to minimize the loss but I am wondering if the "forever stamp" had a play on this as well. Speaking of the "Forever Stamp", did you stock up?
Flip side to this whole thing is that the laws prevent the postal service price increases from exceeding the rate of inflation.
