Market Conditions in Saugatuck, Holland and surrounding areas

Real Estate Agent with Dorothy Hanson, Broker

If you are thinking about a retirement or second home in the Saugatuck or Holland area, now is the time to make your move.  Two of my clients recFall Photo courtesy of Dee Dee Hanson, Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt, Saugatuckently purchased condos in Holland at a considerable discount from previous years.  There are nice, roomy condos in Holland available for under $100,000.

Other clients have been picking up estate properties and foreclosures as investment and rental opportunites at considerable discounts from previous years.  As long as you do not fall in love with a property and can take one of several choices, you can locate your home at a good price.  If you are willing to accept the property "as is" and make repairs yourself, you can get an even better deal!

In the last six months of 2007, several more properties have sold in the Village of Douglas and Saugatuck City  than in the same six month period of 2006.  Since property sales are up, you can see that the buyers are taking advantage of the opportunities.  The total dollar amount of sold properties for 59 properties in Saugatuck and Douglas this year was just over $17M and the dollar amount of sales for the 56 properties last year was $19.6M.  I have even seen some really discounted prices on Lake Michigan.  Recently a home ON LAKE MICHIGAN listed for $1,350,000 SOLD for $1,050.000.

If you are thinking of a home here, now is the time to act.  What are you waiting for?
