What's Your Modus Operandi When You're Sick?

What’s Your Modus Operandi When You’re Sick?

I’ve had a cold and shaking off bronchitis for a week now and am on the mend but while it’s slowed me down, it hasn’t stopped me from functioning.  But this weekend I had the Casa to myself as my husband sickLarry was on a weekend hiking trip.

Ladies... I think you know what joy goes through our hearts when we realize we have the house to ourselves... even if only for a day or weekend.

Cook?     No way... we’ve already made lunch and dinner dates with our friends.
Television?  We flip when and if we want.  No endless channel surfing unless WE want.
Projects?  I can get so much more done when I have the house to myself.

But..... what if you’re sick and really don’t feel like doing much of anything?

Do you take to your bed?  I know many people do, and may be better off for it because they aren’t roaming around spreading their germs throughout the house.

But alas... I can’t do that.  It’s not me.  This was me yesterday in my throne/command center:

Have a Great Day!

What a fun ending to your post. I figured it had to have something to do with football. :) Get well Kathy and enjoy your "me" time. D

Kathy - I hope you're feeling better.  When I'm sick I usually want to be left alone.  My husband wants to hover and take care of me and worries about me, which I appreciate, but a quiet house is a good thing when we're sick - and I find myself in front of the tv too.

By the way, the games yesterday were both so exciting that they had to be hard for someone who is battling bronchitis couldn't yell at the tv!

When I'm sick I tend to crash on the sofa in front of the TV and go in and out of sleep.

Kathy, I'm expecting my husband home today from his outing with pals. 4 blissful days LOL. When I'm sick I generally park myself in front of the TV on the sofa with my pillow and blanket. If family is around I keep to my bed so I don't spread germs as much.

Feel better!

Glad to hear you're through the worst part of your illness Kathy. Funny, you look just like your hubby might have if he was right there with you yesterday.

Oh, and don't kid yourself girlie. We love you guys. But give us a day at home alone and we'll enjoy the heck out of it too!!!

Silvia- I loved just hanging out and having being sick as an excuse!

Toni- actually it was, especially since it was only for the weekend.

Wanda- that's exactly it... the get up and go got up and went.

BarbaraT- I watched both games and have to admit that Brady didn't look as sharp as he normally does.  But they got the job done.

Pam- chicken soup is my all time fave remedy for when I'm not feeling well.

Debb- yep- I was in football heaven.

Anna- thank you and may try your suggestion.

John- for me it's usually bronchitis, never just a plain cold.

BARFF- that pic had my name written all over it.

Susan- the hardest part was when I tried to scream at something and then just ended up coughing.

Chris- yes.... my favorite place when I'm sick.

Janice- those sofas really do get a good work out right!  They're just so comfortable when you're sick.

Craig- oh yeah... well who would bring you your football snacks or tell you what channel the game is on!!!

Kathy, do you really wear your helmet when you're watching football games? Sick or not, you are a dedicated fan.

OMG, I so relate.  I love having the house to myself-no worries about crumbs not cleaned up, toilet seats not put down and woodworking projects making noise.  I can lay in bed, order in, speak on the phone and vacuum to my heart's desire-and that's just when I'm sick!!!!

When I'm sick I like to have someone taking care of me and taking care of my every need!  If I've been sick for a while, then I like to be home alone.  I don't stay in bed.  Too boring.  I sit on the reclining love seat and enjoy the control I have over the TV!  :-)

Kathy, I'm a tough cookie and have to be...If I don't take care of myself, no one will. And everyone in my family expects TOO much from me. But get them all out of the house and I'm resting, like I deserve.

Hi Kathy... glad you're on the mend.  I blissfully live alone and am so grateful because when I'm sick... I do NOT want to interact with any other human being  :)

Malcolm- LOL- not really but I do love my football!

Joanna- ok, now wait a minute... vacuum til your heart's desire????? We have to talk.

Donna- we do love that control over the television, don't we!

Ellen- I'm pretty tough but when I'm sick I just want to have what I want my way.

Peggy- You can tell from those of us here who do not live alone that we immediately grab for the control over the remote!

There are times that we're under the weather and the best thing that we can do is to lay out.

Hi Kathy--I only stay in bed if I am completely unable to get up--like have a high fever.  Otherwise I am doing something and I would be relishing in having the house to myself for a day or two.  How fun.  Hope you are feeling better soon.
