Cameron McDuffy

Sometimes, playing both football and soccer can be very advantageous.

Cameron McDuffy, a member of the Cooper City Cobras travel soccer program and the Pembroke Pines Optimist Bengals football organization, used what he has learned in both sports to help win two championships in South Florida punt, pass and kick competitions.

Cameron was successful in a pair of pre-qualifying events, one at Sabal Pines Park in Coconut Creek and the other at the Miami Dolphins' training facility in Davie.

As a result of his showings, McDuffy earned the right to be the Dolphins' representative in the next level of the National Football League-sponsored punt, pass and kick competition at Sun Life Stadium.

He emerged among the top 20 in that regional attraction with a total distance of nearly 190 feet. His distances in that phase of the competition included 53 feet, 5 inches in punts, 52 feet, 8 inches in passes, and 82 feet, 5 inches in kicks.

While playing with his Bengals' 75-pound division team during the last two American Youth Football League seasons, McDuffy has led the league in point-after conversions during both of those gridiron campaigns.

A well-rounded athlete, McDuffy also recently played on the Cooper City Cobras tournament baseball team and in the Cooper City Optimist intramural basketball league.

Among other accolades, Cameron was selected to play in the Dade versus Broward All-Star game for 9- and 10-year-olds at Florida International University.

Cameron has also excelled in the classroom as a principal's honor roll student—all A's—while maintaining perfect attendance.
