I was memed by Jason Price earlier this morning. Jason had mentioned to me that I should tell everyone 5 things about myself, that many of you wouldn't know about me from Active Rain. I replied back to Jason and asked him what a meme was. He said.... I do not have the faintest idea. Mary McKnight introduced this word and this concept the other day. It looks like it has taken off and everyone is getting involved. From my understanding, it is a new form of chain mail where you have to share 5 things about yourself that we might not know about you from AR.

Teresa Boardman not only wrote about herself, but described a little of what a meme is Meme tag again. And here is Jason's 5 things : I've Been Double Memed Jason, thanks for the invite per se. I was also memed by Brian Brady and unfortunately I didn't get this until 2 days later. Here is Brian's....here, my meme.

So, I guess I now have to share 5 things about myself:

So, as I do.... I stand up to introduce myself. My name is Jeff Belonger and I have a problem. An addiction to ActiveRain. I am single, 39, never been married, and no kids...  (that I know of)  ;o)

                     1.  I love sushi, but you would have never known that prior to this, I hated seafood for the most part. Up until I was around 23, I didn't like seafood what so ever. I had several shore houses throughout the years with friends who all loved seafood. We would throw a party once a summer with 3 kegs, clams, crabs, and corn on the cob. We would literally have 3 big pots of clams and 2 more for the crabs. I started to enjoy this and I actually loved crabs and the crab legs. It wasn't until 8 years ago, I had my first taste of sushi, because my co-workers and I would go to a Japanese restaurant once a month and they all would order sushi. Finally I gave in and tried it. Hence the reason why my mom was shocked.

                     2.  In third grade, I tried out for the play, Wizard of Oz. I was a very, very shy person growing up. I hated getting up in front of people and I still get nervous sometimes, even if I don't show it. But I got the part of one of the trees in the forrest. Luckily a non-speaking part. ;o)

                     3.  This kind of goes back to number 2. I was shy growing up. But we moved every 5 years of my life, up until I was 20. And we are talking about different states also. I lived in Louisville, Ky & Houston, Tx. After high school, I went to Eastern Kentucky University. But I didn't do well, so my parents said I was on my own. I then went into the service, the Army. After 2 years, I received my honorable mention and went back to college. West Virginia University. My whole point with this is because of all the moving that I did, I had to fend for myself in making friends. As I entered my Junior year in High School, this is when I snapped out of this and became very social. Hence the reason why my grades dropped some.  ;o)

                     4.  I might be a big guy, standing at 6'3" and 250 pounds. But I am not a tough guy. Don't get me wrong, I could hold my own if I had to. But I never went around looking for fights. I have a very soft and caring heart. I wear my emotions on my sleeve.

                     5.  My freshman year in High School, I took French. They actually started a singing class that would meet prior to 1st period classes and several of my classmates from this French class actually decided to join up. So, I gave it a shot and I was even picked several times to do solos. Yes, some jocks can actually sing also.

My bonus to throw in there, as  Teresa Boardman did in her blog. I went to an all boy's Catholic High School. The public school system wasn't the best in Kentucky at that time. An all-boy's school?  Yuck... I was just getting into liking females and my parents do this to me?   lol

And a double bonus since I was memed twice: I was in a youth group when I was in high school, all 4 years. I was asked by our youth minister to head up a youth group retreat my Junior year in high school. I had about 30 freshmen and sophomore's on this retreat. I was scared at first....well, not scared, but it was tough the first day, because of large groups. I had about a month to prepare. It was a 2 1/2 day retreat. I felt great afterwards, because of what I had accomplished.

Now the way this works is I need to keep it going by meme tagging others, here are the people I meme tag:

Brian Brady, Angela PhillipsNima Rezvan, Renee Burrows and  Leanne Paynter.

What are the five things that we don't know about you?

Okay... so when I read Mary McKnight's meme blog a few days ago, I truly didn't realize what was happening, until Jason memed me. And now I am just finding out that Brian Brady and Renee Burrows were already memed.  ;o(  And Brian Brady mentioned that I was memed in his meme. But I never knew this or received anything from him. Just a suggestion. If you meme someone, send them an e-mail as Jason did to me. And I am not sure if we just pick 3 people or 5 people, so I am adding 3 more, since Brian and Renee were chosen already and I was memed twice. Rich Jacobson &   Yael WarmanRobert D. Ashby

Again, not sure if I should be replacing 3 names, but I do seem to stir the pot... and stir it on AR... but stir it well.

Here are those that I meme'd and their meme's :

Brian Brady: here, Brady's meme

Angela Phillips:  still waiting

Nima Rezvan: Nima aka Mortgage Man's MEME BLOG (Rated PG-13)

Renee Burrows: OK *Tag* I'm It - No You're It!

Leanne Paytner:  About Me-Me Meme

Rich Jacobson : on Jay's blog.

Yael Warman:  Meme... me, me, me

Robert Ashby: Everybody's Gonna Get Memed!!!

I am adding three more.... to get them into the fun of things. And I mentioned this in my comment below.

Bob Sommers & Tammy Pelletier  & Rich Schiffer

UPDATE :  3/26/07    New meme....The MEME's are back.... My MEME part 2.....

Oh Boy!  I knew it was coming and WAM BAM there it is!  Jeff B, I guess I am thankful that you tagged me.  I actually had like 3 blog ideas in my head right now but I don't think I can get them all in including this one.  I will have to get back to you and the community on this one.  How long do I have before I do my meme blog?

Jeff:  I guess it is a good thing to get MEMED !!!  Because you can share with our new friends on here more things about us without looking too, I forget the word right now but you know what I mean.  We can describe ourselves even in more depth without sounding too self-centered, I think that is the word that I was looking for.

Sorry I missed your call buddy but my phone was getting charged and I was having lunch with the Family at the dinner table.

Oh boy, so I just realized, its your team vs. my team in 35 minutes from right now.

EAGLES vs. GIANTS!

Gotta go now, putting my Tiki Barger jersey on and I am outta here!  GO BIG BLUE WRECKING MACHINE!

LETS GO GIANTS!

In regards to the Eagles vs      nats     .... I didn't know you were a Giants fan.  Boy, I am looking forward to this game and next week, when the Eagles play Dallas a x-mas day.

And we might need a golf cart driver to drive the beer cart.   Any takers?  ;o)  Since you said you don't play golf. And if would be a good way to meet you and possibly so many other Active Rain members. I will be doing a blog on this after the first of the year.

Brian.... I never received anything from you, but thanks for the mention. I am actually going to go read your post now... this could be interesting. But I have already learned a lot about you, from talking to you on the phone... and from the photos that you submitted on my one blog.

I don't want to hijack my own post. But there are so many new members on Active Rain... please join us here by submitting a picture.... Chris Griffith   How those years fly by. What did you look like 20 years ago…???

See, I told you that Chris is trouble.  She is already in here saying bad stuff about Marc and me.  So, I guess when we meet at the golf tournament, everone is going to try to get us drunk and see if we will sing for them.  As for sushi, that is almost the same story for me.  Who knew that I would like raw fish?

Jeff, how do you know that Chris isn't only 21 years old? LOL

Hi, and I want to know if you have a pic of you in the Wizard of OZ.  And I am ASSuming you sang in French? We learned how to sing Oh Tannenbaum in French, who knows why lol.  I can still read French but the only time I have been successful speaking it was in Italy; an Italian shopkeeper did not speak English so we did a pig latin version of French lolol

Carole....  where is your meme?  In regards to Chris, I don't know. Why don't we ask her....

In regards to the Wizard of OZ, I would have to ask my mom.

In regards to the French class and singing. No, we sang in English, thank god. I had a hard enough time with French in itself. I only took French my Freshman and German year in HS. And I picked French because I thought it would be great talking to women in French.... lol  I should have stuck with Spanish, because that was easier.

I did have my French pocket dictionary when I went to Paris.  ;o)

Chris, let's not be forming any alliances now.... like they do on Survivor. So, which anniversary is this for?  And civil?  On here?

I, too, love Sushi.  If you come to the Lehigh Valley, I'll give you my recommendations.  Better yet, we'll meet for a sushi lunch!

I have found that most 'big guys" are just teddy bears.  My dad is 6'5" and is the most docile person you will ever meet.

I took French form my freshman year in HS up until my freshmen year in college.  But it is not my strong suit.  So, we will have to speak in English during out sushi lunch!!

I love sushi too. My brother and father both hate fish. My brother would only eat tuna bumble bee, we would go out for Lobster dinner's and he would never even try it. They don't know what they are missing.

Thank you for serving in the Army. I wish I would have taken French instead of Spanish in HS it is such a beautiful language. I wish I could sing too I have the worst voice. lol

Thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays.

Jeff, thanks for sharing...but a big guy taking French and singing songs and serving in the army...all of this in one person??? and to spice it up as a tough mortgage guru...thats an interesting combination...very nice.

As you comment to my service in the navy on my MeMe blog, I'm also curious about your Army time...what did you do? and did you like it?

Eli....  thanks for the laugh. I guess I should make a photo over the holidays.....  I guess with a French beret, angels in the background...because of my singing, and a M-16 in my hand?

In regards to the Army?  I was a Combat Engineer. I dealt with wire obstacles...tank obstacles, mines, and demolitions. We also built several types of bridges and blew things up.   ;o)  I did my basic training in Ft. Lenard Wood, Mo. and my duty station was Ft. Stewart, Ga. And I did get an Army Achievement medal and also an Army Achievement award. The 2nd didn't mean as much, that was just a piece of paper.

I also spent 3 months at a California base out in the desert for some desert training. That was fun and interesting. Last....  I was very disappointed one year, when they announced that our company was picked to go train over in Egypt for a whole month. There were 4 platoons in my company and each platoon had 4 squads. The main purpose was too pick the best squad to represent that platoon from the company. Well, with my luck, I was in the best squad, but my platoon Sergeant wanted his best squad to stay with him, to protect his vehicles and keep them up to par. aaarrrggghhhh  Talk about rotten luck. All the other better squads got to go. Talk about the good guys finishing last again... lol

Anyhow...  Eli... thanks for asking. Sorry if this was long. But you brought back some memories. This was from '86 to '88.

Jeff, no story is too long when it is so interesting. I loved to read it, and it looks like you enjoyed it as well, which is extremely important. I really liked my military service, I still love to read books about army operations, it was always close to me because of my background, and the country I grew up is no doubt a place where high school graduate getting involve immediately in the service, as it is also a mandatory service for all.

LOL for your comment...good guys finishing last...thx.

Eli....  I agree...but sometimes I am not the best at telling them. And I know this....  but in person, sometimes better.

I have grown more towards getting to know more about War World II and such....and the Pacific Island campaigns.

Mary.... well, thank you for the kind words. And yes, I will call you next week when you are in NYC. And we'll try to get together.

Blanca.....  some sushi lovers... great. There is so much that can prepare you for life.... or even appreciate life that much more, after going through some of life's down moments. It's what makes us better people and humble at times.  thanks.. and I look forward to getting to know more about you and everyone else on AR.

Yes Jeff, stories which are told verbally, in person, with the natural body language are the best...I've always liked to be involved with such...as a teller and as a listener.

Eli.....  I also love those types of war or Army stories.... and I read your comment to George, in regards to starting a military group for those to tell stories. But as George, I don't think I would have time to be a moderator.

Angela.....  yes, I love sushi.... but I don't think I could eat it 7 days a week though. Like I said.... I don't think I can find those tree pictures...  lol  I'll ask my mom. I might have an old Halloween pic.  I was a tree once then also... lol

Overall.... thanks for stopping by and I look forward to your meme.  Let me know.

Jeff, there is no problem, my last comment to George was that I did not created any groups on AR only because I don't have the time to monitor them, and certainely I can understand you and George as well from the same reason. Regardless, there are too many groups already...thats time consuming.

Great meme, Jeff!  As I mentioned on Tim's meme, I used to be shy, too.  It looks like we have a whole bunch of bashful people in the Rain.  I once played Snow White in a FRENCH version of the play.  LOL!  I took French for many years in school.  I'm from Louisiana.
