Romancing the Rock

We are going to do a big flagstone patio this summer. I have looked at a lot of flagstone and had an image in my head of how I want it to look, so, off to the stone yard to choose!

Anasazi is amazing! There is every imaginable stone for the hardscaping of one's dream home. All colors and patterns of flagstone are displayed.

In the event I want stone pillars instead of latillas as roof supports, there is an enormous selection offered here.

What if We need a fireplace?

Or a water feature?

I selected the flagstone I wanted all along and got all the details on delivery. We are going to think about incorporating a few more features now, gotta love that rock!

If you want to see magnificent stone and lots of ways to use it to enhance your own living space, go to:

Wow! What a resource for "rock" and your presentation of what they sell has sold me on some new ideas to add to my list for the spring. BTW, love your title.

Marge, Wow!  There is nothing even remotely like this up our way.  Seeing pictures in a showroom just won't cut it anymore.

Marge, Great photos -- it is amazing how much they have and it all looks great.  It was great talking with you today.  I also bet I know the movie that influenced the title for this post.

Emily, It was awesome.  I have a zillion new ideas.  These guys know how to sell rock!  They have been building the place since the '80's and constantly add new features.

Chris, from a brochure, it would be easier to get the details for an order of flagstone.  Hearing the water running from a dozen fountains....  made it easy to price other "improvements" to the property!

Gary, I bet you do know where I got the title and I had so much fun talking with you today that I may have to start calling rainers myself...

Christine, I didn't show you half of the place.  It was an amazing experience.

Marge -

Great title caught my attention real quick!  Oh how we can relate to pondering and wondering when it comes to a home project.  Last November we had our fireplace re-done with stacked stone.  Whewww.... the choices were incredible.  Then we had the patio floor bricked.  Now to decided which brick, what style pattern, to finish with a coat of sealer or not. Oh the list just goes on and on.  I could write a book on the eternity it took us to decided on granite and new cabinets for the kitchen.  Debbie and I can beat a dead horse to death.  Just like with home buying when you have so many choices it can really complicate things!  Have fun and be sure to walk us through your romancing the stone!

Marge, this is so beautiful. I love stone work. I'm pushing the button up there. We don't do so much stone work here....it will be used for trim and we use River Rock and I do love that. This was just facinating. Hope your week is off to a great start. Be happy!

John, We usually agree pretty quickly (maybe one of us doesn't think it is worth a long argument?) and I was pretty sure going in that I wanted "buckskin" flagstone.  After seeing all the choices, that was still our favorite.  There were a couple there that were more striking but I don't want the floor to be the main focus and there is going to be a lot of it.

Kim,  This is still in the planning stage,  but if I don't plan it it will never happen.  I love stone too.

Karen, I am sure I will blog it as we go along.  I love stone and will enjoy every moment of getting this done.

Fernando, I don't have a fireplace in the house but will absolutely have some sort outside.  I like stone firepits...

Jeanean, I already wanted a water feature and firepit, haven't made any final decisions on those yet.  I have the water feature ponds, lights & fountain but have to decide how to build them into the whole thing.  leaving space for a future hot tub to soak my old bones.

Marge I think you should go all the way. A fireplace and a firepit, a water feature ,a new  patio

and what else can you add?? They have quite a selection of stone for all purposes.
