Happy Lunar New Year

Today is the first day of Chinese New Year which is also known as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival and is considered the most important of holidays in Chinese culture.  This is a fifteen day celebration which culminates with the Lantern Festival.

From January 23, 2011 until February 9, 2013 we will be celebrating the year of the Dragon.  The Chinese year 4709 is also known as the year of the Water Dragon or Black Dragon.

The celebration centers around visiting friends and family, lots and lots of good food, fireworks and the giving of red envelopes with money from the married to the unmarried.

Happy Lunar New Year

Hi Gretchen and Fred -- thanks for stopping by and reading this post.   In the San Gabriel Valley, we are fortunate to have a variety and large number of Chinese restaurants where there will be much celebrating during the next 15 days as well as parades and events.  Kung Hai Fat Choy

Hi Michael.  I always wonder what each year signifies.  I was wondering about the year of the dragon.  I do love the red envelopes with loot in it.  OK now I'm hungry for Won Ton soup and Egg Rolls.

Thanks alot Michael! Now I've just got to have the Chinese Buffet to help celebrate! Guess where I'm headed for lunch! I'll be good tho! Happy New Year! I should probably help with the celebration all 15 days. I THINK there's enough Chinese Restaurants to make that happen! Yum!

A belated Happy New Year to you!  I am up to my elbows in short sales, and that is a great way to start the new year, right?

Cheryl -- I would have no trouble finding a different Chinese restaurant everyday in the San Gabriel Valley -- there are too many for me to count or ever visit.  Enjoy!

Don -- short sales are great when they close -- best of luck.
