What a strange summer.  We are currently in a drought but with some heavy rains tonight we are having flash flood warnings.

As far as weather is concerned the number one killer is heat and right behind it is flash floods.  Please be careful and don't drive into rising water.  The current could be too strong and you will be in trouble in a hurry.

Same here in New Mexico. I was driving home after showing property this afternoon when the rain started. By the time I got home, the water a couple of streets from my house was rushing into the arroyo with such force that at least 4 trash bins had been swept away and were stacked up against the fence that keeps people from going down into the arroyo proper. (Today was trash collection day so they were out on the curb).

flash floods are just that...they happen in a flash. You are absolutely right. People don't realize how quickly water can rise and how fast it can flow. If you need to pull over somewhere and wait for the water to subside do it. It is not worth the risk to drive into that kind of water.

We had the same situation in Denver tonight.  Makes me realize that sump pumps around here are a good investment.  Many homes have sump pits, but not the pump.  I always advise clients to get one.  They could cost a pretty penny, but if yours is the basement that gets flooded during heavy rains, it's a small price to pay to have the water pumped out at the source.

I lost my cars engine in standing water when I drove into it at 35 MPH...the water came right over the hood of my car and went into the engine air intake..... bent rods and cracked pistons.... I will NEVER do it again..... I spent $1800 for a new used engine...

BTW Donna...I like your class and style...I have added you as an associate....
