3 Comments on Drought To Flash Floods
Same here in New Mexico. I was driving home after showing property this afternoon when the rain started. By the time I got home, the water a couple of streets from my house was rushing into the arroyo with such force that at least 4 trash bins had been swept away and were stacked up against the fence that keeps people from going down into the arroyo proper. (Today was trash collection day so they were out on the curb).
flash floods are just that...they happen in a flash. You are absolutely right. People don't realize how quickly water can rise and how fast it can flow. If you need to pull over somewhere and wait for the water to subside do it. It is not worth the risk to drive into that kind of water.
I lost my cars engine in standing water when I drove into it at 35 MPH...the water came right over the hood of my car and went into the engine air intake..... bent rods and cracked pistons.... I will NEVER do it again..... I spent $1800 for a new used engine...
BTW Donna...I like your class and style...I have added you as an associate....
