The Mable Ringling Rose Garden

Stop And Smell The Roses At The Mable Ringling Rose Garden.  Situated just to the north of the John and Mable Ringling mansion, Ca d'Zan, is the Mable Ringling Rose Garden.

Whenever you feel the urge to nourish your soul and refresh your spirit, a visit to The Mable Ringling Rose Garden on a beautiful and sunny Sarasota day in the middle of January is the perfect time and place.  This lush and fragrant oasis on the grounds of the Ca d'Zan, the Ringling mansion, was completed for Mable Ringling in 1913 and is open daily from 9:30am to 6pm.

The garden is 27,225 square feet of luscious rose delight and features 1200 rose plants.  While none of the current plantings are original the garden contains roses introduced between 1867 to 2002.

The Mable Ringling Rose Garden has been  accredited by All-American Rose Selections and was named the 2006 most outstanding All-American Rose Selections Public Rose Garden in the nation.

While The Mable Ringling Rose Garden is not the most famous of the Sarasota Area's many attractions, it is definitely one of the most fragrant and delightful.  Definitely worth the time to stop and smell the roses and recall a more tranquil time.

Keith - Great, local, overview of one of your great attractions.  Your information on the garden was really good, but you had me with the photos.  Nicely done!

Keith ---

This my absolute favorite place to see in Sarasota. I never tire of hearing how this castle was buit, and where all the treasures came from. This is such a beauty, and similar to another favorite, the Vizcaya in Miami. Such beautiful castles!

Thank you Laura, Betty and Pacita for your generous comments!  They make writing the blog worthwhile.  I am usually not one to "stop and smell the roses", but I am glad I did.  Having lived in Florida since 1974, I stil can't believe we are in the middle of January!
