Can’t type on an ipad or tablet? Try writing with one finger. It’s Penultimate.

Going from a keyboard to a picture of a keyboard on a tablet can be real challenging if you have to take notes quickly.

In a conference or seminar, sometimes it’s necessary to draw something.

Here’s your answer: Penultimate. At only 99 cents, it's a great deal!

The application is described as

** The original, powerful, still easiest-to-use handwriting app for iPad. On sale. **

Penultimate gives you the fast, tactile gratification of writing on paper, with digital power and flexibility. Take notes, keep sketches, or share your next breakthrough idea -- in the office, on the go, or home on the sofa.”

Read about it here

And here are a couple of screenshots on how you can use it.

Once you download (iremember, t's only 99 cents --- Such a deal!), they have a really cool tutorial to guide you on how to use it. You can even have booklets of notes depending on the topic, occasion, etc.  I find that writing with my finger is so much easier and faster than attempting to type.  Certainly better than a stylus!

Another cool feature  is that you can email your notes!

Watch this tutorial and see if this iPad app  is for you.

Hi Pacita - I've been using Penultimate for about 6 months now and really like it for a variety of uses. For note-taking, instead of my finger, I bought a JustMobile pen, designed for writing on touch-screens. It has a great feel and gives a better line and more control than using my finger - it cost about $9.

Dick --

Thanks....I am resisting buying anything that I can lose. Nice to know about this pen. But for now, my finger is just dandy. Just have to make sure my nails don't get too long :)

Pacita, you are such a modern woman! What'll it be next, robots running around cleaning your house? The Jetsons. Seriously, change is good, and we are in for some big ones.

Lloyd -- I have fun using mine. Haven't tapped its ultimate potential yet, but glad I have it

Stacey -- I remember drawing on a toy slate where we write something, then pull up the plastic sheet to erase what we wrote/drew, and start all over again..this is more fun

Deedee -- I just don't like using a stylus anymore. Hate depending on it. When I still had one of those PDA (personal digital assistant) like my Palm Pilot V, I learned to use my fingernail instead of a stylus which I kept losing anyway

Susan -- I think it's available only on an iPad. So make sure you get the right tablet :)

Kathy ---

You will love the iPad. I take it to bed to watch shows on Netflix or play games until I fall asleep. Oh, and I do use it for work, too.

As for choosing the iPad....if all the others are touting themselves as the iPad killer, then why not get the real thing, especially when the vast majority of apps are developed for it?
