Update on "My Foster found her Forever Home". As mentioned in my previous post, this was a sad yet vaery happy day. My foster found her forever home. It has been pretty quiet around her over the last couple days with out. Then this morning I received an email from Tootsie's new mom.
Tootsie is adjusting amazingly well, and at lightening speed. I tried our best to keep her isolated from the others, at least for the first 24 hours, but she did everything she could to be with our dogs, so trusting her willingness to meet the others, we decided to let her do so. We started with leashed introductions, and before I knew it, she had pulled the leash out of my hands and she and our boxer were racing around and play boxing. Within 8 hours, she had managed to befriend all the dogs, took treats from Tom and came when I call her, if she wasn't already right next to me. Yesterday, she spent some time under foot, but then decided to explore the yard with Jasper. She has gotten very brave at going outside on her own, but will come back in to look for me every 5 minutes or so. She is still trying to get all the rules of the house down, but things are going great. She even held her ground against the bossy JRT, as they tussled over a toy, and he now leaves her alone. We ran errands yesterday, which meant 4 dogs in the back of the pickup truck camper and 2 dogs in the cab, and there were no problems what so ever. She is such a sweetheart. I think she is the perfect fit!
Such a wonderful email. It my eyes well up with water. It makes it all worth it.
