There have been a lot of posts this months about blog content, and how to overcome writers' block.

I have a suggestion.

Whenever I am having a hard time thinking of what to write, I ask myself, "What could I write about that I would be able to post on 'Diary of a Realtor'?"

Things come up in our real estate practices every day that make great blog posts.  We meet interesting people.  We solve almost impossible problems for our clients.  We have issues with people behaving badly - or well.  The "other agent" does a great or awful job.  Clients dump us or send us flowers.  Raccoons move into our attics, and our dogs have puppies.

So when I'm at a loss for a blog topic, I look at my life.  And something starts to show up on the computer screen.

Patricia - You are so right!  Our day to day lives have quite a lot of blog information - funny, sad, happy or angry.

So funny you bring this up today, Pat... I was having a doozy of a day and forgot to take pictures, but I ended up in a picturesque setting and because I was like... well I can't blog about the challenge but at least I can blog about how the day ended LOL LOL

Patricia, we have so much fun dealing with the dynamics of showing properties in the snow and icy conditions that Maine winters bring... Really, it's just all in the day and the life of a real estate broker... No one really wants to know how the heck we managed to get the key that opens the door..(today I climbed over snow banks, slid across icey walkways, chipped pathways to rear barn doors and warmed up freezing fingers of tiny tots crying about being cold. Point being..... There is a lot to write about because as realtors, we go the extra mile to service our clients day in and day out!!

That is a really good idea Pat.  I have been unmotivated as of late, so I need to cracking on some blog posts!

Hi Pat. There is always a story to share in our lives. I can just about relate every day experiences into a blog post if I needed to. No, there is never a lack of topics. It's finding the time to sit down and write about them.

I seem to spend a lot of time in my car and I often chuckle about some of the quirks of this business. By the time I get in front of a PC I have totally forgotten them!

And when you ask that question.....I'm sure that you have about 32 things that come to your mind before even the noon hour, right?

That's what it's all about. Our lives have become one big blog, now, haven't they. My kids are so annoyed.

Pat, thinking what we did in our work for the day or that week most assuredly gives us ideas I agree.

Great suggestion Patricia... Whenever I am suffering from bloggers block (which is usually the blogs I do post to diary of a realtor) I just do a community post.. Something that may not get a whole lot of interaction but has a great possibility of getting me business...

We, and our lives, are our own best sources of blogs!  Certainly every day we run into something either interesting or weird.  And there you go!

Pat, Between our own life events, hyperlocal events, general interest topics and all the other choices out there, finding something to write about isn't the challenge, just the finding of the time for some of the topics.  Some of the community/market type topics are very time intensive and keep getting pushed off.

And all posts don't have to be about real estate. Find a topic that will be interest to your clients and potential clients. They'll find you and get to know you better.

Hi Pat, Great advise.  People in our profession have many stories to tell.  Sometimes for me it is getting the words to flow.

Have a great weekend.
