Columbus Social Media Cafe

What could happen if traditional media and new media... joined forces in Columbus Ohio?

They've got the megaphone (s) ....

WOSU TV local public TV

WOSU Radio local public radio

Columbus Ohio's got the inquiring minds... COSI Center of Science and Industry

WOSU and COSI have already joined forces... in the Digital Media Center at COSI

Twitter was down Thursday evening but here's the feed on Twitter - Social Media Cafe

I Twitted about it when I got home...

Maureen McCabe MaureenMcCabe How I spent my Thursday evening...http://twitter.com/SocialMe... from web Icon_star_empty Icon_trash

The first meeting Columbus Social Media Cafe was mind boggling... I was one of about 20 Columbus Bloggers at a very open and in person "forum" at COSI on Thursday evening. The question was : "What can we do together that we cannot do alone to make the community better using Social Media?"

Now this may be a real estate networking first. There were two Central Ohio real estate bloggers present. Me and gorgeous Joe Peffer (even this YouTube video does not do Joe Peffer's smile justice)... Joe is an ActiveRain member. I first got to meet Joe in person at the BlogTour USA stop in Central Ohio last summer... During BlogTour USA in July 2007 two east coast real estate bloggers, Joe Ferrara and Rudy Bachraty of Sellsius Real Estate Blog traveled cross country to evangelize blogging and talk to people (real people... not just bloggers and not just real estate people) about blogging and social media.

Columbus Ohio Live on Blog Tour USA via ActiveRain - July 13, 2007

Ancient history... anyway BlogTour USA was the first time I met Joe and saw that smile. In one of the sessions at the Social Media Cafe I mentioned ActiveRain and the points and the value of the Active Rain points... What's the point of points on ActiveRain. What the incentive is to participate on ActiveRain and mentioned how much real estate people like having their face show up... So without further ado here is a first... this YouTube video features Joe's pretty face, great smile... and the wise words of Joe and other Columbus bloggers about what traditional media and new media getting together can mean to Columbus Ohio, "What can we do together that we cannot do alone to make the community better using Social Media?"

Just in case .... the link to the YouTube video of Columbus Social Media Cafe - November 15, 2007 Columbus Social Media Cafe Logo used with permission .

We had at least 4 non real estate bloggers at our Blog Tour USA stop last July, Joe was the only on I knew from that event at the Social Media Cafe. I have had a Columbus blogroll on both of my blogs for a long time... great people to network with.
