That’s Why It’s Called Murphy’s Law

“If something can go wrong it will.”

Murphy’s Law

As I see it . . . . . . .

That’s why it’s called Murphy’s Law

We plan for the best and them we meet Murphy and what can go wrong does.

It’s a safe bet that things can get off track and go wrong in a heartbeat. Things can get off track for many reasons. Our research can be faulty, we missed something in the research, we didn’t follow the plan or we may have miscalculated the resources that were required to successfully complete the undertaking.

It’s important to understand what caused a plan to go off track and to use that information to help correct the condition. Also we can use the experience as a future guide to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.

When Murphy’s Law strikes the key is to remain composed. Look for the best solutions you can find using the resources that are available to you and implement them.

With new undertaking it’s best to have a plan B or a fallback position available in the event that you’re plan gets off track.

After the condition has been corrected look back at the problem and evaluate what caused the problem. Put the safeguards in place so that you can prevent the problems from occurring in the future and move on.

Stuff happens that’s why it’s called Murphy’s Law, stay composed, plan your actions in advance, adjust and know your fallback position.

Options, a plan B, it is all a matter of being prepared.

Great advice, Lou.  Backups or contingencies are a good idea.

Excellent points.  When something goes off track it is a learning experience one that may be educational or one that tries your attitude and helps you learn patience and the ability to move on.  Nice thoughts for Wednesday!

Lou, you are right about Murphy's Law and life. And then there is this new landscape of real estate where Murphy seems to make a home for him/her self given the complexities of a transaction today. The key is to stay calm and focus on the solution. Sometimes, people focus on passing blame forward rather than plan B.

"Murphy's Law" has ruined many attitudes and careers. Amazing how I see many people give up because of Murphy's Law...

It is always smart to think first of all the possible scenarios. That is the best advice one can give on a real estate transaction.

Lou, I have met Murphy quite a few times through the years but know he is also visiting others and is always just around the corner. Finding solutions to problems scares him away though!

Hi Lou, you are so right!  Think about the "what-ifs" ahead of time and have an alternate plan - we can't see into the future but experience knows that Murphy can show up at any time.

I've never met Murphy, so I'm not willing to participate with the myth. That said, it doesn't mean that stuff doesn't happen, but I'm not willing have an easy way out. When a problem shows up, I will focus on a solution.

As usual your advice is on the money. Plan B is a good thing just in case this infamous "Murphy" should strike. Thanks for the great post!

without the negative we can not have the positive, just like you said, it's all in how you respond to that negative that turns it into a positive...the never ending cycle...why!!?? :)
