Laura - While technology is a great thing to increase business, communicate globally and network around the world it's really scary to find this news out. This is a serious online risk and it's unbelievable that stalkers can find you, your children, where you live, work and where your kids go to daycare! This is enlightening albeit scary and we all need to take precautions NOW! Always turn off the GPS in our camera settings - GOT IT!  SUGGESTED!

Lauralu, I saw this info once before! I don't have a smart phone, but I know so many people who do just this; take a photo and then post it on fb or twitter etc. Just goes to show how unscrupulous people will use anything to get their information. I'm glad this story tells how to disable the photo tracking. Thanx for sharing! It's like the discussion the other day about childrens names on the walls going on MLS...

Isn't technology great Laura. There are probably more aspects of it that we don't even know. And what will be even further developed of the next few years.

Hi Laura--wow, thanks for posting this information.  Who knew?  As I was watching the video I grabbed my iPhone and changed the setting.  Am sending this out to all my relatives and friends, too.

It really is Adrian.  I try hard to keep my little one safe and was quite shocked at this.

Great Point Elizabeth!  I didn't even think about the fact that soldiers would be at risk due to this very issue.

You are so right Kristine.  The fact is if a stalker wants to find you, they will.  However, clearly we don't have to make it easy on them!  Thanks for the Suggest.  I do hope many will see this!

Thanks Craig, I do appreciate the your suggest.  My hope is only that many folks see this information and do everything they can to stay as safe as possible in this scary world.

Joni, thank you!  I don't understand the need for all these social media's to want our location.  It's not that we can hide it, our business is a local type of business.  But the GPS issue is really scary!

Very scary indeed Sir Rog! I've seen how we have learned so much through Active Rain with technology.  You and I could barely load a photo a year ago and look at us now!  I just got my first smart phone for Christmas and I have to say, I don't know how I lived without it!

Cautious or not Ellen (and I know you've done amazing by your children), pass this video onto them!  They may not even be aware of this setting.

Absolutely David!  It shouldn't matter.  All that does is make us more vulnerable to an already scary world.  I love life and this big beautiful world, but there are some scary folks out there.  No reason for us to offer them information.

No doubt Victor!  Pass it on and help keep folks safe.

It's exactly like that Pegaroni!  There is a lot of bad out there and we must do what we can to not provide information to them.

Your welcome Gary.  The more folks here about this the safer we can all be.

Good Morning Michael, it really is!  We need to do what we can to be safe in this very techie world.  Not easy for those who aren't so!  I had no idea about this setting.

Well Tom, get your family to watch this and change the settings on their cameras.  We have to do what we can to stay safe in this techie world.

Absolutely Juli, they are out there but we don't have to make it easy on them.

Gina, we just have to be smart about how we post.

I know, I know Kerrie!  But their are a lot of them out there and we must do what we can to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.

Even if they make it to Active Rain Ed, turn the GPS settings off on your camera.  Our Active Rain blogs and photo's spider all over the Internet.  And I know how much you love that little guy and would do anything to keep him safe.

It really is John.  Unfortunately, the techies developing it aren't always thinking about the safety aspect.  I find it exhausting to try to keep up with it sometimes.  But it is so exciting!

Excellent Job Janet!  Pass it on, pass it on!  Let's keep as many informed as we can.
