The Magnificent Northwest The Beautiful Northwest

One of the greatest pleasures in my life is to see the world around us and capture it in a way that might allow others to feel and appreciate some of the amazing beauty that is a part of our world.

The color and splendor is almost beyond ones imagination if you have never witnessed our great Northwest. I was in the end car of this train that ultimately ended it's passage to British Columbia and the visions of this wild and mostly unsettled land was breathtaking.

From the raging rivers, waterfalls and evergreen, to the giant cliffs of steel cold rock, this natural beauty stands as testament to it's timeless creation.

There is something about the vastness of the Northwest that has no comparison though and it really puts our lives in perspective of how small we are to this magnificent area. Yet our eyes can take it in and our minds can wrap around it.

When I revisited that photo once again this morning, I realized it was likely more of a vintage train than those often seen. I can imagine that trip also had a very nostalgic feel to it. It reminds me of the trains of my youth:-)

Hi Myrl, Yes, you are correct. It was vintage. It was the White Pass Railway used strictly for tours of the region.

Hi William, What a great way to see the country and the world -- in a train. You picked the best spot to get amazing photos at the back of the train! Years ago I took the train up from San Francisco to Seattle and just enjoyed every moment.

So good that you travel and enjoy taking photos for all of us to enjoy!
